Current release: Valheim 1.0
Iron Gate released 1.0 and Deep North on 9 September 2026. This edition adds a researched Deep North route and returning-player help, alongside the existing Meadows-to-Ashlands guides.
Existing saves remain usable; new biome generation needs unexplored terrain. Read the returning-player guide before continuing an older world.

What the review labels mean
| Label | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Official release context | A change or feature announced by Iron Gate. Exact gameplay values need their own evidence. |
| 1.0 researched walkthrough | Current published walkthroughs and databases support the route. Disagreements and untested details are called out in the guide. |
| Pre-1.0 reference | Older mechanics or recipes remain available with their source dates. They have not been fully revalidated against 1.0. |
| Nominal item stats | Published base values and quality increments. These do not calculate character skills, target defenses or every game modifier. |
A check date records when a source was reviewed. It is not a claim that the wiki team played through that encounter or tested every platform. No firsthand 1.0 gameplay test is claimed.
Supply targets, suggested routes and preparation checklists are editorial advice. World modifiers, multiplayer group size and procedural terrain can change what your expedition needs.
Changes that affect older guides
The following corrections are based on the detailed release notes. A corrected paragraph does not certify every older value on the page.
Mistlands visibility
Wisplight, Wisp torch and Mistwalker clear farther; all Mistlands weapons now clear mist. Keep a spare light and a marked recovery route. Check visibility with your actual equipment before crossing a drop.
Still to check: Exact clearing radii and equipment interactions are not established by the notes.
Late-game gear durability
Mistlands and Ashlands gear received higher durability. Check your item’s current durability and repair before departing. Keep the reserve kit in the guide.
Still to check: New durability values and per-item coverage are unresolved; this does not revalidate crafting costs or station levels.
Ashlands encounters
Spawn chances were reduced for multiple Ashlands enemies, while the interval between Charred spawns was shortened. Do not read the rebalance as a guaranteed longer quiet interval or lower overall difficulty. Keep a short route back to cover.
Still to check: Spawn probabilities, intervals and resulting difficulty are not quantified.
Black Forest Bear hunts
Black Forest Bjorn spawn chance and health were reduced. Use a prepared search circuit; do not rely on an old health figure or a guaranteed encounter.
Still to check: The notes do not supply new health values, spawn chances or changes to Vile behavior.
Base pieces and raids
The set of build pieces tagged as player base changed. Treat old piece lists and raid-eligibility advice as pending review. Preserve an exit, spare kit and protected livestock.
Still to check: Which pieces changed, suppression coverage and applicability to the new events remain unverified.
Haldor and carrying space
Haldor offers inventory upgrades; Deeper Pockets and Wider Pockets are named in the release. Inspect the current shop and distinguish inventory slots from carrying weight before spending coins.
Still to check: Prices, slot gains, prerequisites and interaction with carrying equipment remain unresolved.
Trinket coverage
1.0 adds Neckstabber and Witch Crown. Use the thirteen-entry table for its pre-1.0 scope; it is not the full released trinket collection.
Still to check: New trinket effects, acquisition and recipes are not established here.
- SteamDB: Valheim 1.0 patch notes (build 25185596)
Announced changes to mist clearing, gear durability, Bear and Ashlands encounters, base-piece tags, rare drops, menus, pockets and trinkets.
Community reference · Checked . Build-indexed record of the official 1.0 update notes, published via Steam Community and tied to build 25185596. Confirms only the stated changes; no new numeric values, recipes or tag list is inferred.
Worlds, platforms and multiplayer
Guides assume ordinary survival settings unless a page says otherwise. Check your world’s resource rates, portal rules and death settings. Calculators use their displayed recipe data.
Valheim 1.0 supports crossplay across platforms and up to ten players. Crossplay does not imply that save files sync between every platform. Read the multiplayer checklist →

What needs further verification?
Current-build recipe and combat tests, disputed Deep North values, and platform-specific behavior remain the main research priorities. The Deep North guides identify uncertainties instead of filling them with guesses.
