About this guide
Pottery steps come from demo-era authored guides. The writing-supplies route comes from a September 22 creator video linked in a player thread. Science steps use Prima and VGTimes reports checked September 27, alongside the official 1.005 lockup fix. Kingy has not reproduced these routes; exact builds, platforms and retail recipe values need separate checks.

What is confirmed
The developer describes gathering flora, fauna, and human remains; creating machinery; automating production; and crafting weapons and armour.
Can I use recipes from the first game?
This page does not verify any inherited recipe. The sequel retains a Technology Tree and adds a Talent System, so ingredient counts, station access and unlocks from the original should not be treated as GK2 instructions.
What still needs checking
The pottery sequence below is reported from prelaunch guides, including explicitly hands-on demo coverage. Kingy has not reproduced it. Other recipe quantities, processing times and unlock chains remain unconfirmed here; retail recipes still need a launch-build check.
1. Unlock Pottery I
After the twins request pottery, open the Building branch of the Tech Tree and unlock Pottery I for 10 red and 5 green Tech Points. Both cited reports give this cost. Receiving the quest does not grant the technology automatically.
2. Build the Potter’s Wheel
Use the Workyard construction menu outside your house. ShowGamer lists 2 Wooden Planks and 1 Piece of Stone for the wheel. Its material is processed stone; Pro Game Guides shortens the name to Stone. Check the displayed blueprint rather than treating those names as interchangeable.
For that processed material, ShowGamer points to the Stonemason’s Workbench. It identifies Woodworking Workbench I as the source of planks made from Boards. If either material is missing, finish that part of your workshop before placing the wheel.
3. Craft the plates and return to the twins
For Clay, ShowGamer directs you southeast from the house through the Inquisition Base to a large clay pit. Gather four Clay there, then return to the Potter’s Wheel. ShowGamer reports 2 Clay producing 3 Clay Plates; two batches meet its six-plate quest target. Take those plates back to the twins to receive the fishing rod. Check the completed objective and your inventory after the exchange.
If the wheel blueprint or plate recipe is absent, check that Pottery I is unlocked, then use the wheel itself to craft. These steps combine Sudhanyo Chatterjee’s September 17 demo guide with Andrey Pavlenko’s September 16 pottery report; platform and exact build are not given.
Video guide: ink and Clean Paper for the nun
pepper’s September 22 walkthrough uses a Writing Desk in the writing basement. It checks Bronze Polishing and desk materials, then prepares fat before returning to the desk.
At the Writing Desk, the creator turns skin into a Leather Scroll and the scroll into Clean Paper. For ink, the narration calls for ash, water from the well and melted fat. The creator obtains fat from a body and uses a pottery bowl for distillation. Check the recipes and quest quantities shown in your own build before using scarce materials; this is one player’s route, not a verified recipe table.
Metadata checked · footage interval not reviewed
Sampled frames show the desk, processing and crafting menus. Use the written route above; the full interval and current recipe values remain unconfirmed.

1. Reach the Study Table with research supplies
Prima Games places the Study Table in the Alchemy Lab, accessible after meeting the Plague Doctor. Bring a Science Kit or Clean Paper and choose an item you have not studied. These September reports do not identify an exact build; use the requirements shown in your game.
2. Convert supplies into stored Science
At the Study Table, select a paper or kit conversion that displays a Science yield. Complete that conversion, then check the table’s Science balance before starting research. A kit carried in your bag has not yet become stored Science. VGTimes reports Clean Paper as a source as well as Science Kits; Prima’s narrower kits-only wording is not treated as an exclusive rule. Conversion consumes the supply item.
If you have no more supplies, check the Writing Supplies technology and Writing Desk recipes. VGTimes identifies that technology as the unlock for Clean Paper, Ink and Science Kit I. Follow the paper route above, but read the current recipe requirements rather than budgeting with old Furnace fuel values.
3. Study one needed item and check the result
Select the intended unstudied item, check its Science cost and any Faith requirement, then complete the work. Prima reports that research keeps the subject item and reveals available alchemy runes; VGTimes also describes the Tech Point reward. Compare the item’s study state, your inventory and the Science balance afterward. A paper-to-Science conversion and an item study have different outcomes.
Choose a material relevant to your current objective. The sources do not establish that every studied item has a rune, or that repeating the same item is a renewable Tech Point source. Reports disagree on whether quality variants count separately; Kingy has not settled that rule in retail gameplay.
If research will not start
Recheck the conversion and research requirements above. If those conditions are met but the table remains unusable, record the item, balance, platform and installed build.
Official update 1.005 addresses a lockup after inserting an item for Science. It does not prove every stuck table or old save is repaired. Apply the available update and retain a reproducible save if the problem persists; use the existing support guide for reporting.
October 6 update 1.009 — scoped follow-up
October 6 update 1.009 reports corrected Study Table surveys for grape juice and grape wine, corrected tier 2 oven visibility until the oven is repaired, and craft tooltips that omit already-attached extensions. The oven correction explicitly includes existing saves. No recipe yields, fuel budgets or full research loop were re-extracted.
Pottery and Science fixes in 1.007
The September 28 patch reports a stuck Potter’s Wheel fix, restored access to polished stone, and Study Table fixes for missing Science points and items that could not be studied. Install the patch available for your platform and report a repeatable failure. The October 8 support check listed a Nintendo exception for the Study Table lockup. The October 14 support list no longer confirms that rollout status; removal alone does not prove a fix, and neither source validates every demo recipe quantity.
