Before you start
- The loadout, meal supply, poison resistance and exterior portal are ready.
- A Sealbreaker has opened the Citadel; your first entry needs no additional sacrifice.
- You can find the actual exit and have a spare Wisplight/recovery kit outside the fight.
Learn the route before spending all your stamina
The Citadel is a multilevel interior. Identify the exit and nearby stairs immediately, then draw the Queen into space where you can see her arms and your footing. Keep the Wisplight equipped. Avoid fighting with an unprotected drop behind you; confirm the Feather cape is worn before using a lower level as your escape route.
Use walking and short moves whenever possible so stamina remains for an actual dodge. A clear escape path is more valuable than a few extra attacks. If several enemies reach you, change levels or disengage along the known route before trying to repair the situation with another full combo.

Use short openings and remove the adds
With the melee loadout, use brief Mistwalker attacks and timed evasion. The Queen’s knockback makes greedy combos unreliable. Do not treat a successful block as permission to keep standing in range until the next hit.
With the magic loadout, alternate aimed casts with movement and eitr recovery. Staff of Embers deals blunt/fire damage and can help control reinforcements. The Queen resists pierce and is immune to spirit, so a bow-focused endurance fight is a poor default even though a bow remains useful on the approach.
| What you see | What to do next |
|---|---|
| An arm swing or nearby ground thrust | Roll through the timed impact or move out before it lands. Take a short counterattack only after the animation commits; leave stamina for the next response. |
| A bite or spit wind-up | Move sideways and clear the line of attack. Maintain poison resistance before exposure; do not stand still to drink while the attack is arriving. |
| The Queen rushing or burrowing away | Make lateral space, then reacquire her. Use the pause to check food, heal safely and remove nearby adds instead of chasing into unseen terrain. |
| Roar, eggs hatching or fresh Seekers/broods | Clear your immediate space first. Keep a melee weapon ready; an optional Staff of Embers can hit groups when you have eitr and an unobstructed firing angle. |
| Stamina, eitr or health getting too low | Stop attacking and make space. Use the actual exit for a full reset when a safe recovery window does not appear. |

Retreat, repair and recover without relying on a safe-room claim
Use the dungeon exit to return outside if food, durability or supplies are running out. Reach the protected portal, repair at the correct station, refresh Rested and food, then return with a complete load. The Queen can regain health over time; this is a resupply break rather than a pause button.
The entrance corridor can be useful space, but do not assume invulnerability or depend on attacking through walls. Community entrance-safety advice is inconsistent, and small enemies may follow you into the corridor. For a real withdrawal, leave the dungeon.
If killed, eat and rest outside, equip the spare Wisplight and carry enough defense to reach the tombstone. Keep backpack space to recover your equipment. Pull threats away when possible, retrieve the gear, and leave again before re-equipping or sorting loot. A recovery run has one objective: bring your equipment out.
Repeated deaths in the same spot mean the access plan needs to change. Return to the kitchen/workshop, improve the equipment that failed, or arrange a willing teammate to draw threats away. Do not spend the last recovery set on an identical approach.

Recover the real reward and start the next preparation
- After the defeat, clear lingering enemies and collect the Queen trophy and Majestic carapace. Check the floor and your available inventory space before leaving.
- Store the carapace at the crafting base. It is a material for the Artisan press, the Artisan table extension used in the next shipping and protection chain. It is no longer an unused “Queen drop” placeholder.
- Take the trophy to the Sacrificial Stones, mount it on the Queen’s hook and inspect/select the available Forsaken power if desired. Choose the active power deliberately before the next voyage.
- Keep the Sealbreaker. To repeat the fight in the same cleared Citadel, the upper Hive seat accepts three Seeker soldier trophies; that resummoning cost did not apply to the initial fight.
- Replenish food, meads and spare equipment before preparing the Ashlands ship and landing. The Queen’s reward unlocks preparation; it does not make an ordinary boat suitable for the next sea crossing.

You are ready when…
0 of 3 ready
Saved in this browserWhen something goes wrong
I can damage the Queen but keep dying to small enemies.
Switch priority as soon as adds close in. Clear a fighting patch, move to another level if needed, and only resume boss damage after the space is usable.
My weapon is nearly broken before the fight ends.
Leave through the exit and use the tested portal to repair at the Black forge or Galdr table. Return with fresh food and Rested; never wait for the weapon to break completely.
I cannot summon her with fragments.
Fragments make the Sealbreaker for first access. A repeat fight at a defeated Citadel uses three Seeker soldier trophies at the upper Hive seat.
