Before you start
- A working refined-eitr and crafting chain.
- Nine Sealbreaker fragments and a Queen map marker, or more mine exploration planned to finish them.
- Repeatable Plains food production, crop stock, a Stone oven and enough supplies for a retreat and a second attempt.
Craft a coherent melee set and practice with it
Our default route uses Mistwalker and a Carapace shield. The sword’s slash and frost damage suit this encounter, while the shield provides a familiar defensive tool. It is not a promise that every Queen attack can be safely blocked: health, stamina, equipment quality and timing still matter. Practice short attacks and dodge-rolls against isolated ordinary enemies before the Citadel.
Carapace comes from Seekers and soldiers, scale hide from hares, and mandibles from soldiers. Make the three armor pieces as resources allow. Compare a new piece with your upgraded Plains equipment rather than replacing stronger armor solely because its name is newer.
Add the Black forge cooler for level 2. The Mistwalker and shield cards include their separate quality-2 costs, so you can improve the two items you will rely on most without buying an entire maximum-quality collection. Check the displayed level before spending materials.

Add Feather fall; choose magic only with a food plan
Craft and equip the Feather cape before using drops to change arena levels. It prevents fall damage while worn, but does not stop attacks or grant unlimited stamina. Its fire weakness matters on the approach when Gjall or a hostile fire mage is present; keep Fire resistance barley wine available.
Magic is an alternative route: Staff of Embers gives ranged explosive attacks that can clear broods, and Eitr-weave clothing improves eitr regeneration at the cost of armor. The recipes below provide a complete basic clothing set. You do not need to craft this second set for the melee route.
Staff of Embers remains our Queen magic recommendation for its explosive attacks. Staff of Frost is an optional later alternative to learn before the Ashlands: its rapid shards spread, making long-range shots unreliable. Bring freeze glands from Mountain drakes for the recipe, then practice short bursts on isolated ordinary enemies, stopping to move and recover eitr. Carry a practiced frost option forward instead of learning its range during the next landing.
A staff and refined eitr in your backpack do not make you a caster. Eat eitr foods and verify that you can cast, move and recover eitr against routine threats first. A practical starter combination is Seeker aspic, Yggdrasil porridge and Meat platter. Two eitr slots leave less stamina than the melee combination; walk between casts and keep a melee fallback for enemies that reach you. Use a Rune table if you choose Galdr equipment upgrades; their displayed costs remain separate from base crafting. For barriers and friendly summons, follow the blood magic route and keep recovery meads supplied.

Finish the kitchen and reserve planting stock
- Connect the Spice rack, Butcher’s table, Pots and pans, and Mortar and pestle so the cauldron displays level 5. Black marble makes the last extension possible. Keep the fire underneath usable.
- Cultivate a protected patch inside the Mistlands for Jotun puffs and Magecaps. Plant the harvested mushrooms themselves, leave growing space and inspect crop status. Keep a replanting reserve; a Meadows or Plains garden does not grow these mushrooms.
- For the recommended melee combination, make Salad at the cauldron, then prepare Meat platter and Misthare supreme at the Food preparation table and finish both in the fueled Stone oven. These are three distinct foods: eating another serving of the same food does not fill another slot.
- Keep the meat raw for preparation recipes. Hunt hares for meat/hide, keep some Seeker meat and use the existing Lox supply. Carrots and onions come from your older gardens; cloudberries and raw barley come from the Plains. Remove oven dishes when cooked so the expedition food does not become coal.
- For magic, use Royal jelly from mine piles/broods, Magecaps, raw Seeker meat, sap and raw barley to make Seeker aspic and Yggdrasil porridge. Do not mill the barley reserved for porridge. Store enough finished meals for the fight and recovery before leaving.

Bring the key to a prepared Citadel approach
- Craft a Sealbreaker from nine fragments at the Galdr table. It is reusable. Keep it with expedition supplies and use the Queen marker revealed by a mine Vegvisir to plan travel; prepare another sea route if the Citadel is on a different landmass.
- Identify the large sealed black-marble entrance, clear local threats and establish a protected exterior portal with a marked walk to the door. Test the return to your repair stations. Stock a spare Wisplight, food, poison resistance and recovery equipment on the safe side.
- Finish food, Rested, repairs and poison resistance before entry. Carry spare meals plus healing and stamina meads and watch their cooldowns. Bonemass is our defensive power recommendation for physical hits; it does not replace poison resistance.
- Open the door with the Sealbreaker only when ready to fight. The first Queen is already inside; no initial Seeker soldier trophy offering is required. Read the fight and recovery plan before entering.

|---|---|---|
| 1 × Sealbreaker | 9 Sealbreaker fragment | Galdr table |
| 1 × Mead base: Poison resistance | 10 Honey + 5 Thistle + 1 Neck tail + 10 Coal | Mead ketill level 1 |

You are ready when…
0 of 3 ready
Saved in this browserWhen something goes wrong
I own refined eitr but the staff will not fire.
Refined eitr is a crafting material. Eat eitr food, check the eitr bar, and wait for enough to regenerate before casting.
Salad or porridge is missing.
Check that the cauldron displays level 5 and that you have picked up each ingredient. Inspect all four extension connections; oven preparations use the separate Food preparation table.
The door will not open.
Bring the completed Sealbreaker, not loose fragments. Craft it at the Galdr table, then interact with the Citadel’s sealed entrance.
