Before you start
- A working shelter with fuel, safe smoke clearance and a claimed bed. Repair the room before furnishing it.
- A Hammer and Workbench; Fine wood for the early furniture. Later steps use a Stonecutter, Iron nails, Mountain Wolf pelts and Plains Tar as their materials become available.
- Keep equipment, food, planting stock and a recovery reserve funded first. This is an upgrade route, not a requirement to build every piece before the next boss.
Fix the conditions before adding furniture
Rested lasts seven minutes plus one minute per comfort level. For example, comfort 9 gives 16 minutes. Higher comfort lengthens the timer; it does not amplify the regeneration or skill-experience bonus. The effect is lost on logout, so check it after returning to the world.
- Choose one spot near the fire with an unobstructed route to the bed, storage and exit. Stand there, become dry, and check for Shelter and Fire. Use the shelter troubleshooting if either is absent.
- Look for Resting. Nearby enemies, damage effects, being Wet or a fire that goes out can interrupt it. Give smoke a clear path out under a weather-protected opening; furniture does not fix a suffocating fire.
- Remain Resting for 20 uninterrupted seconds and check the Rested timer. You do not have to sleep through the night to renew it. Outdoors, sitting near a fire works when dry and safe, but it does not supply all the sheltered room’s comfort.
- Record the displayed comfort and check again from this same spot after each change. Keep furniture close together; the general furniture range is ten meters, and the Hearth’s stronger sheltered contribution needs you within eight meters. Avoid designing around the exact edge.

Use inexpensive categories before expensive upgrades
Starting with a sheltered Campfire and bed, add a Deer rug. For the next step, use a Bronze axe or better on birch/oak for Fine wood, hunt boars for Leather scraps and make Coal in the kiln. The first bronze equipment and smelting guides cover those supplies.
Choose the Wood chair, also called Chair in some references, rather than the Stool. Both use four Fine wood, but the chair gives two seating comfort and the stool one. Use an ordinary furniture Table, not a crafting station such as the Food preparation table.
The four additions beyond your existing Campfire and bed cost 12 Fine wood, 4 Deer hide, 6 Leather scraps and 4 Coal in total. This is one Deer rug, one Wood chair, one Table and one Black banner. Place them with the Hammer near a Workbench; read the number from the established resting spot.
| Contribution | Comfort |
|---|---|
| Shelter while near the fire | 2 |
| Lit Campfire | 1 |
| Bed | 1 |
| Deer rug | 1 |
| Wood chair | 2 |
| Table | 1 |
| Black banner | 1 |

Improve the category instead of filling the room with duplicates
Only the strongest applicable item in each category counts. A Raven throne replaces a Wood chair’s two with three: that upgrade adds one, not three. A second rug or another banner adds no further comfort. Keep extra furniture if you like using it, but do not spend resources on it to extend the timer.
Add the separate Armor stand once Iron nails are affordable. It contributes even when empty; an Item stand used to mount a trophy is not a substitute. Save enough nails for transport and production structures before putting every bar into furniture.
A Hearth is an economical next step once a Stonecutter is already available. Build it on ground or suitable strong support, fuel it with Wood and ventilate the smoke. It replaces the Campfire contribution rather than adding both. Keep the Stonecutter nearby for repairs.
| Change | Additional comfort | Material dependency |
|---|---|---|
| Campfire → lit Hearth | +1 | 15 Stone; Stonecutter costs are separate. |
| Wood chair → Raven throne | +1 | 20 Fine wood and 10 Iron nails. |
| Add empty Armor stand | +1 | 8 Fine wood, 4 Iron nails, 2 Leather scraps. |
| Bed → Dragon bed | +1 | Wolf pelts and the full bed recipe; claim the replacement. |
| Table → Round table | +1 | 2 Tar plus Fine wood and Iron nails. |
| Add heated Hot tub | +2 | 6 Tar, 10 Iron bars, Wood, Stone and fuel. |
| Make | Materials per craft | Station |
|---|---|---|
| 1 × Stonecutter | 10 Wood + 2 Iron + 4 Stone | Hammer; within workbench range |
| 1 × Hearth | 15 Stone | Hammer; within stonecutter range |
| 1 × Raven throne | 20 Fine wood + 10 Iron nails | Hammer; within workbench range |
| 1 × Armor stand | 8 Fine wood + 4 Iron nails + 2 Leather scraps | Hammer; within workbench range |
| 10 × Iron nails | 1 Iron | Forge level 1 |

Use the later haul without risking the respawn point
You do not need to sit in the Hot tub to receive its nearby comfort. This route recommends building the main rest room in your established home base; do not use an Ashlands bath as a safe resting trick, because its water can harm the player there. Its heated bonus requires fuel, so check it if the room unexpectedly loses two comfort.
With all the replacements and additions above, the example reaches comfort 16 and a 23-minute Rested timer. This is a practical nonseasonal target, not a claim to cover every later or seasonal furnishing. A cheaper room that you reliably use is preferable to a costly layout whose fire or exit fails.
- After establishing a frost-protected Mountain route, save Wolf pelts for the Dragon bed once your cape and equipment reserve are secure. Collect Deer hide and feathers as well. Build the new bed under cover, explicitly claim it, and verify the spawn point before removing your previous bed.
- Use the tar-pit clearing and drainage guide for the Round table and optional Hot tub. Reserve eight Tar for those two pieces together before committing a large amount to roofing.
- Convert Iron into nails at a Forge for the throne, stand, bed and table. Their combined 49 nails need five crafts from five Iron if starting from none, leaving one nail. The Hot tub additionally uses ten Iron bars, and a new Stonecutter needs two more. These are different jobs for the metal; leave the bars for structures that need bars.
- Bring building metals by the appropriate cargo route. Iron nails can use an ordinary portal, but Iron bars cannot under default rules. Build the Hot tub where its smoke can escape and its fuel input is reachable; use the nearby comfort while resting beside the Hearth.

| 1 × Hot tub | 20 Wood + 6 Tar + 10 Iron + 8 Stone | Hammer; within workbench range |

Make the room part of departure and recovery
- Return the haul, repair equipment and place replacement meals and meads in the expedition inventory. Refill the fire and tub as needed. Keep the route through the room open when adding storage.
- Eat, wait at the established spot until Rested is renewed, and inspect the remaining timer before leaving. For blood magic preparation, recover the health spent on setup casts before setting off.
- If Rested expires while away, return through the known portal or use a safe temporary fire/rest stop. Do not sit down beside an active fight merely because the buff is useful; clear or leave the threat first.
- After a raid or death, restore the roof, working fire and claimed bed before rebuilding optional furniture. The raid recovery guide covers damaged camps. An expensive room does not replace spare food and equipment.

I added furniture but the number did not increase.
Check whether that category already has an equal or stronger item. Then move to the intended resting spot and verify range, shelter and active fire. Add one change at a time.
The Hearth is warm but the expected extra comfort is missing.
Stand sheltered and close to it; the stronger Hearth contribution has a shorter useful range than simply feeling its warmth. Check fuel and smoke, then move nearer before adding another fireplace.
My new Dragon bed did not become the respawn point.
Building it is not claiming it. Interact to claim it and check the displayed spawn state. If the old bed was destroyed, fix and claim the replacement before another dangerous trip.
The Rested timer disappeared when I logged back in.
Rested does not persist through logout. Restore the safe resting conditions and wait for the effect again.
The room is two points lower today.
Check whether the Hot tub ran out of fuel and whether you are in the same position. Seasonal availability and moved furniture can also change a different room; this guide’s example does not need seasonal items.
Keep the result useful
Use the success check to finish this job, restock any reserves you used and return to the supporting journeys or your current boss objective.
