WARDOGS FIELD MANUAL

Use backpacks, quickslots and inventory space

Make room for the items a role needs and put usable equipment on reachable controls.

Plan inventory space around the work you intend to do, then assign the equipment you need during a fight to available quickslots. Empty storage and fast access solve different problems.

EquipmentReviewed 2026-09-13Dated beta and launch-day player handling reports

Before you start

  • A backpack with space for the intended items.
  • Available quickslots and their current bindings.
  • The exact item footprints shown in your current inventory.

Put equipment within reach

The launch-day tips describe carrying a specialist item in a backpack and dragging it onto an available quickslot. The example keeps a defibrillator in its specialist slot and adds a carried rangefinder to another key.

A beta inventory discussion reports R rotating an item while it is being dragged. Use this to try an alternate orientation before assuming the bag lacks enough space.

  1. Open inventory and identify the item you need to use quickly.
  2. Drag it to an available quickslot and read the assigned key.
  3. Return to play and check that the key equips the intended item.
  4. Recheck the layout after replacing equipment or changing storage.

Pack for the next task

Our suggested packing order is the role’s essential tool, its consumables, spare ammunition and medical supplies. Add optional items only after that set fits.

For a supply transfer, leave enough free space to move the purchased resources from a crate to the FOB. A packed combat bag can prevent you from acting as the unloading player. The builder’s account documents this extra inventory step.

Compare actual capacity

Record the backpack’s usable layout and each item’s footprint, not just a raw slot count. Shapes and required empty space can determine whether the intended kit fits.

Current vest quickslot counts, backpack dimensions, weight thresholds and their exact movement penalties remain unmeasured here. These fields should be shown as unknown until tied to a specific item and build.

    Common problems

    • Carrying an item does not prove it is assigned to a usable key.
    • A full backpack can block the crate-to-FOB workflow.
    • Do not derive movement penalties from real-world equipment weight.
