Before you start
- Complete the Imaru head hand-in for Withering Heights.
- Pack a spade, Mithril Pickaxe, Mithril Logging Axe and runes for repeated Windstep casts. These are preparation recommendations; a higher-tier equivalent is suitable.
- Keep quest-inventory space free. Repair equipment and carry healing food, water and combat supplies.
- Plan access to a Cooking Range and Maple Toastie ingredients for Spittletoe.
1. Death, Cathan and the Dreaming Stone
- Speak to Death in the Forgotten Temple after finishing Fellhollow. Follow the objective to Cathan at the gatehouse on Silverthorn Keep’s southern edge.
- Enter the Ominous Door. Follow The Approach south to The Courtyard and speak to the Wise Old Man.
- Continue uphill to The Nexus. Talk to Doric and inspect the Dreaming Stone to begin the shard objective and gain access to the Nexus nodes.
2. All 13 Dreaming Stone shards
Use these numbers as checklist labels, not a required collection order. Check the Journal after each pickup; nearby markers can refer to a different floor. Open gates and activate Nodestones as you reach them.

Spittletoe: password and Maple Toastie
One secondary guide describes a sap trade. The illustrated walkthrough and item record instead support the cooked toastie; follow that hand-in.
- Talk to Spittletoe, then find Snotpit above the kitchen. Clear the nearby Zogre before talking.
- Read the Chef’s Journal on a bed at the top of the Grand Hall tower. Return to Snotpit and choose the response with “Please”, then continue the conversation to learn the recipe.
- At a Cooking Range, combine 1 Dried Redberries, 1 Maple Syrup and 1 Bread. Making the syrup requires Cooking 41; the finished toastie is the requested hand-in.
- Bring the Maple Toastie back to Spittletoe and finish his dialogue to receive the shard.

Library book order and Valerius’s Glass Owl
At Alric’s Journal, use the books in this order: The Empty Throne → The Eye of Oculus → Taking the Crown → Zamorak’s Rebellion. The opened lower room contains the two demons guarding a shard.
- For Valerius’s separate shard, take the outside stairs and bridge to his room; accept the request before digging.
- Climb one floor above him, pass the Blue Dragon and look for the gargoyle near the cliff. Dig up the Glass Owl and return it to Valerius.
Menagerie: the three lever locations
Once all three torches are lit, collect the room’s shard. The beam route holds a second shard; it is a separate stop.

Crypt and Lake: avoid two wasted searches
Reach the underground passages through the stairs beneath the Cathedral. The Crypt’s note is the clue to start digging; a walkthrough’s successful grave is not a fixed location for every world.
At the Lake, leave an inventory slot for the Unusual Trout. The community wiki mirror says the pool interaction needs no fishing tool; another guide requests a rod. Try the pool interaction first, and check your current objective if it is unavailable.
3. Restore Avisk and fight the Black Knight Titan
The current community reference lists Crush and Water weaknesses and Fire and Slash resistance. Check your Journal for your installed build. Healing food belongs in this kit: old Wardstone preparation advice predates Jagex’s health rework.
- Return with 13/13 shards and finish the Dreaming Stone conversation. Enter the opened route to The Bastion; activate its Nodestone before the arena.
- Repair and restock before crossing the boss barrier. Use short attack windows, then leave enough stamina to dodge. When the sword ignites, watch the floor and projectiles before closing again.
- Defeat the Titan, collect the loot and return to Avisk at The Nexus. Finish the conversation to complete the quest.

4. Claim the rewards and enter Umbral Sands
The reported quest rewards include Titan’s Wrath and its crafting recipe, plus the Tome of the Titan, which grants 750 XP each to Attack, Magic and Ranged. These are distinct from the boss’s loot. After the Avisk hand-in, return to The Bastion and use the desert door.
If a shard or barrier will not register
These checks cannot repair every quest-state bug. Record the objective, platform and installed version if the gate remains blocked. No current source checked here establishes a universal save-editing fix.
- Compare the Journal count with the checklist. Confirm every NPC trade and memory hand-in, not only the pickups.
- If the Bastion barrier is still closed, finish the stone dialogue and check the other Nexus nodes. Community reports associate this gate with unblocked Nodestones.
- In co-op, check each character’s objective and required interactions. Re-enter from a saved, safe checkpoint if the display stays stale.
