The short answer
Use food for healing and explore for permanent health upgrades. The 0.12 rework removed Wardshield, Wardstones and healing potions; older preparation lists based on them no longer describe the current system.

Rebuild your survival kit
Jagex’s rework moves incoming damage directly onto HP. Seek Sanguine Urns for permanent maximum-health upgrades; food restores health and may provide other benefits. Stat potions remain.
For a return to an old character, read food effects again before taking on a boss. Old healing potions return their components when used under the announced conversion rules. Do not reserve inventory space for a Wardstone rotation.
Poison resistance is not blanket immunity
The 0.9 developer notes distinguish resistance from a cure: drinking Antipoison clears poison buildup, and its resistance can stack with Fungal Fortitude. The stated immunity is to ambient swamp gas. That is not a promise that a boss cannot poison you again.
For poison encounters, watch buildup, move out of the hazard, and keep the relevant consumable reachable. Avoid preparation guides that treat an active resistance buff as permission to stand in poison.

In Umbral Sands, plan around shade
Direct sunlight builds Scorch. Once triggered, it drains hunger and thirst rapidly before threatening health. Travel between shaded stops, bring cooling supplies and consider protective clothing.
A useful expedition check is simple: can your supplies cover both the outward trip and an interrupted return? If not, shorten the route before leaving.
