The short answer
Enable crossplay when hosting the world and join through the browser or an invite code. First check patch availability: Jagex’s notice, rechecked September 21, still temporarily excludes Nintendo Switch 2 and Jagex Launcher from crossplay while their 1.0.0.4 updates are processed.
Before you start
- RuneScape: Dragonwilds 1.0 installed
- A world to host or a friend who can provide an invite code
- Agreement on whether the group wants a crossplay or platform-only world
Check platform patches before changing world settings
Status rechecked September 21, 2026. Jagex still says Nintendo Switch 2 and Jagex Launcher cannot crossplay until patch 1.0.0.4 has been processed on those platforms. The developer will post availability updates in the linked announcement’s comments; this is a temporary rollout restriction, not removal of crossplay support.
Compare the full installed version on the host and joining devices, then check the latest developer update. Enabling the world setting cannot resolve a platform waiting for its patch. Do not delete a world or start over to troubleshoot this restriction.
Supported launch platforms
The official 1.0 release article lists these platforms and adds crossplay. Platform support is a launch fact; controller layouts, performance and platform-specific account behaviour need their own checks.
| Platform family | Launch listing |
|---|---|
| Console | PlayStation 5; Nintendo Switch 2; Xbox Series X|S |
| PC | Steam; Epic Games Store; Jagex Launcher |

Choose the world setting before you invite
- Decide whether the group needs crossplay or a platform-only world. Crossplay is selected per world when it is loaded.
- If you are using a dedicated server, check its crossplay option before sharing the connection details.
- Agree on the host, world name and whether everyone is joining through the browser or an invite code.

Use the world browser or an invite code
- Open the world browser and look for worlds marked for crossplay, or choose the invite-code route.
- Enter the invite code in the world browser. The host can find the code in the in-game pause menu.
- If the world is not visible, recheck the host’s crossplay setting and compare the full patch number on each device. Use the platform-status check above before retrying.

Keep the launch facts separate from co-op testing
The launch notes confirm the world setting, browser visibility and invite-code flow. They do not establish voice chat, save transfer, player limits, connection recovery or progression scaling, so this page leaves those as open checks rather than guessing.
For a first shared expedition, choose a small objective and record the world setting with any issue report. That gives later maintenance a reproducible starting point.
