The short answer
Version 3.0.0, build 24268, is the September 12, 2026 launch baseline. It adds the new campaign content alongside changes to graphics, controls, networking and the World Editor.
Before you start
- Check your installed version before comparing behavior.
- Campaign access and the client update are separate.
Verify the launch claim
Blizzard’s store says Forsaken Kingdom is available alongside the Definitive Edition update. Its gameplay trailer announces a same-day launch on September 12. PC Gamer reports that Blizzard announced the expansion at BlizzCon that day.
The “23 years” comparison is to The Frozen Throne in 2003. It refers to a new official campaign, not an absence of Warcraft III patches, remasters or community campaigns during that period.
Go straight to the change that affects you
Use Access and editions for the difference between content ownership and the free client update. Use Graphics settings for the new presentation and Controls for campaign commands.
For multiplayer, read the Forsaken Paladin guide and check the client’s available servers. For a disconnected session, read the connection section of Troubleshooting before assuming the legacy client has the new content.
What map makers should check
The notes describe lighting, camera, object-management and scripting improvements, plus save/load and custom-campaign fixes.
Our recommendation is to duplicate a project before opening it in a changed editor, keep the original export, then verify imports, triggers and save/load behavior in the copied project. Test the parts your map uses; a successful open is not a complete compatibility test.
