Flax, thread and leather: a Bramblemead gathering route

Gather blue-flowered Flax and animal materials, then turn the haul into thread and leather for your first upgrades.

Reviewed September 12, 2026 · Early Access

The short answer

Search the grass in Bramblemead Valley for blue-flowered Flax. Combine that trip with hunting for hides and bones, then return to your Spinning Wheel and Tannery before attempting the Bone Pickaxe.

Before you start

  • Starting weapon, food and purified water
  • A camp you can return to in Temple Woods or Bramblemead
  • Spinning Wheel and Tannery built, or their materials budgeted

Temple Woods → Bramblemead Valley → camp

  1. Leave Temple Woods towards Bramblemead Valley to the east. Use the village as a recognisable return point.
  2. Search the grassy ground for tall blue flowers. Pick up Flax as you move between nearby patches; avoid turning the first run into a trip through the swamp.
  3. If you cannot find a patch, check a different stretch of the valley’s grass. The sources establish the region, but do not establish a dependable respawn timer or a fixed yield for a circuit.

Bring back hides and bones on the same trip

Cows, rats and Kebbits provide useful early animal materials. Hunt manageable targets while looking for Flax, and inspect the actual loot before choosing your next recipe. Deer are another source of hides and bones, but a ranged option makes chasing them less wasteful.

Our recommendation is to gather for one missing station or tool at a time. Keep the route short enough to return with food and equipment durability remaining; a large haul is not useful if you cannot bring it home.

Process the haul in the right order

Reserve four Flax if you still need to build the Spinning Wheel. The Tannery itself needs two Coarse Thread. Process the remaining supply after the stations are built, then check what the chosen equipment needs.

The planner leaves thread and leather as finished ingredients. It does not silently add the raw Flax or hides needed to process them.
