The short answer
Take a Stone Pickaxe or better to Whispering Swamp. Its eastern edge is a documented Clay gathering area. Budget 14 Clay for one Kiln plus one Furnace before adding pottery or other stations.
Before you start
- Stone Pickaxe or better
- Equipment suitable for the enemies beyond Bramblemead
- Food, water and a planned return route
Bramblemead → eastern Whispering Swamp
- Travel through Bramblemead Valley towards Whispering Swamp. If the nearby goblins are consuming most of your supplies, finish your early equipment upgrades before going farther.
- Search the eastern side of the swamp for Clay deposits. A Stone Pickaxe is sufficient; waiting for the Bone Pickaxe is unnecessary for Clay alone.
- Mine until you reach your construction target, then return along the approach you used. The blue-flame-door objective of Dragon Slayer can bring you into the same region, but you do not have to wait for that objective to collect Clay.

Count construction and processing separately
The Kiln processes wood into Charcoal. That makes it part of the preparation chain for the Furnace, whose construction itself consumes Charcoal. Keep the Charcoal for construction separate from the fuel you will burn while smelting.

When to end the run
Check the live build menu against the budget before leaving camp. If you are also building a Brewing Cauldron or making vessels, add those displayed costs to the 14-Clay target.
Treat this as an area route rather than a timed farming loop. Kingy has not measured node refresh times or the amount available in a fresh world. If the deposits you reach are depleted, avoid waiting beside them on an assumed timer.
