Start playing: access, editions and installation

Check your library, choose the right content and get into the campaign without buying the base game twice.

Reforged 3.0.0 · Launch edition · September 12, 2026 · Updated 2026-09-12

The short answer

You need both Warcraft III: Reforged and Forsaken Kingdom. Existing Reforged owners receive the Definitive Edition update free; campaign access is a separate entitlement. Check what your account already owns before choosing an edition.

Before you start

  • Access to the Battle.net account that owns your games.
  • A working internet connection and the Battle.net desktop app.

Check what you already own

The product names are similar enough to choose the wrong one. Open your game library and account purchase history first. If another family member made the purchase, check which account received it before troubleshooting the installation.

Use this comparison to identify missing content. Regional prices and promotions can change; compare the final local store contents rather than assuming the most expensive bundle is necessary.

Prepare the client and open the campaign

The sequence below is our installation checklist. Exact launcher labels can vary with app version and region.

  1. Sign into the account that owns the required content and select Warcraft III: Reforged in Battle.net.
  2. Allow the client update to finish before launching. Compare the displayed version with the patch guide if the new campaign is missing.
  3. Open the campaign screen and begin with The Last Days of Lordaeron. Read the opening objectives before changing settings or looking up later story events.
  4. If the campaign remains locked, verify the account and entitlement first. Reinstalling the entire game will not add a missing license.

Check voiceover and connection needs

Blizzard lists English-only campaign voiceover. That statement does not mean every menu or subtitle is English-only. Inspect your language options if you need localized text.

The store requires an internet connection, Battle.net account and desktop app. See the troubleshooting guide before planning to play somewhere without reliable internet.
