GUIDE / LAUNCH DAY

Phantom Blade Zero launch checklist

Preload, day-one patch, save backups, performance first-guess and what to verify yourself before trusting any day-one guide.

Pre-launch edition · corrections September 19, 2026Article review: 2026-09-14 · gameplay untestedSpoilers · Spoiler-free

A practical, spoiler-free set of launch-day steps. Check October 28 or 29 against your regional listing before scheduling a download or first session.

Before launch day

Editorial guidance

Preload when the store offers it — preloading is a store feature, and its availability for Phantom Blade Zero is unverified until listings update. If a preload exists, the download is the same content you will play; a day-one patch may still arrive on top of it.

For PC: update your GPU driver and operating system a week early, so a driver popup never interrupts your first session. Keep your previous driver available in case the new one misbehaves (a rollback plan is worth the 10 minutes).

For PS5: confirm console storage headroom and, if you use an external SSD, know which games will be evicted to fit the install.

Launch morning

Editorial guidance

Verify the three sources that matter before touching the game: the official site (announcements and patch notes), your store listing (editions, preorder content, unlocks), and this wiki's updates page (what the record says has actually landed).

Check the version number in-game and write it down. Every strategy, cost or bug report you tell your friends should carry that version number — and you should expect the same from any guide you read.

Enable cloud saves if you use them, and make a manual backup of any local save after your first session closes cleanly. Save loss is the one launch-day problem no video settings page can fix.

First-run baselines

Launch-verified (pending)

Performance guides on this wiki cannot yet be tested — kingy.wiki has no Phantom Blade Zero build access. Establish your own baseline: note your platform, your display, your settings and an objective measure (frame counter, capture timestamps) in the first session so later troubleshooting has a reference point.

If the game includes a benchmark mode, run it twice and keep the numbers; they are more comparable than a visual impression.

Day-one patch status

Unverified

This review has not established a day-one patch or its size. Check official updates and your store on launch day before assuming one either way.
