Check the starting setup
Some rope levels begin with an ejected rider; others require you to leave a vehicle. Inspect the hands and vehicle before pressing Eject. If the character is already free, the important action is the grip.
The reviewed GrayStillPlays sequence is useful for studying a grip and narrow drops, but the reviewed interval does not establish a builder or current level ID. Use it as a movement demonstration rather than a guaranteed lookup result.
Practise one transfer at a time
- Identify the next grabbable object and the opening beyond it before releasing your current grip.
- Hold the grab action as the hands contact the rope. Confirm the body is hanging from that point.
- Let the swing develop. A release at a different point in the arc changes both direction and height.
- Use a compact body pose for a narrow passage when the geometry calls for it. The example visibly changes pose between holds and drops.
- Release for the opening, then prepare the hands for the next contact. Judge the result before changing another part of the attempt.
Read the miss
| What happened | What to examine next |
|---|---|
| Fell before swinging | Did the hands ever attach, or was the rider only touching the rope? |
| Hit the ceiling | Compare the release position and body extension. |
| Overshot the next grip | Try a different release point; do not assume longer swinging is better. |
| Caught the rope but hit the wall | The grip can be correct while the chosen body pose is too large. |
| Nothing responds as expected | Check remapping, the character’s state and whether the rider is still alive. |
Do not copy the clock from another level
A two-second hold on one rope says little about another rope with a different length, pivot or starting velocity. Use the visible arc and target as cues. Video edits also prevent reliable input-duration estimates.
Repeat the same starting setup and change only the release point first. Once the transfer works, practise the landing or next grab as its own step.

Read the release, body pose and final drop
This continues the grip lesson with the narrow transfers and final drop. Watch how the available opening changes the useful body pose. The lesson uses visible geometry, not a guessed number of milliseconds to hold a key.

- 2:51 · Tuck, then assess the opening ↗
The commentary calls attention to a tuck and release. Compare the character’s size with the passage; a held grip and a suitable pose solve different parts of the move.
- 3:00 · Treat each narrow transfer separately ↗
The sequence passes through tight drops. Identify the next contact or opening before deciding where to release.
- 3:07 · The last grip and drop ↗
The source describes grabbing and letting go; the reviewed 3:11 frame shows the rider falling between the blue walls. Aim for the opening rather than copying a timing count from another rope.
