The short answer

Thrustmaster says Ace Combat 8 requires NEO mode for T.Flight HOTAS NEO X and T.Flight HOTAS NEO. On PC, install the TFHT driver and confirm the green LED; console mode and LED depend on the exact model.

T.Flight HOTAS NEO: mode, driver and controls

Thrustmaster’s October 3 instructions apply specifically to T.Flight HOTAS NEO X (PC/Xbox) and T.Flight HOTAS NEO (PC/PlayStation). Ace Combat 8 requires NEO mode for these models. On PC, both need the TFHT driver for NEO mode and should show a green LED. On Xbox Series X|S, NEO X uses its white-LED Xbox Series mode; on PS5, NEO uses its red-LED PlayStation 5 mode.

Legacy mode identifies NEO X as a HOTAS One or NEO as a HOTAS 4 for backward compatibility. On PC it remains the default without the driver and shows a red LED. In Legacy mode the mini-stick duplicates the POV hat and cannot be separately mapped, and vibration is unavailable. In NEO mode axes can be mapped; mini-stick and vibration still depend on the game’s support. Do not apply these NEO mode instructions to an older HOTAS One or HOTAS 4, or assume every control works in this game.

  1. Identify the exact label on the base: NEO X or NEO, then match its supported PC or console.
  2. On PC install the current TFHT driver from Thrustmaster, select NEO mode and confirm the green LED before launching Ace Combat 8.
  3. In the game’s control settings, inspect each axis, throttle, hat and mini-stick separately; record any missing mapping on the current game build.
  4. If a control fails, record model, platform, mode/LED, driver version and game build for Thrustmaster or publisher support.
