Collect Sulfur for your first Repair Tool

Find loose Sulfur beyond the Welcome Center, recognise larger deposits and check the Repair Tool recipe disagreement.

Early Access 1.2 · Buddy System Hotfix 1, September 3 amendment · Updated 2026-09-14

The short answer

Look for loose Sulfur near the rock pillar beyond the Welcome Center. Save one piece for the Repair Tool. Large deposits need the Sonic Resonator; deeper hot-region gathering needs Heat Tolerance preparation.

Before you start

  • Carry oxygen support and leave room for a pickup.
  • Prepare Heat Tolerance before entering the hotter area; use the Angel Combs guide.

Search the pillar beyond the Welcome Center

PC Gamer places an early Sulfur spot near Coral Crabs, roughly 200 m southeast of the Lifepod at about 120° and 25 m deep. Use the pillar and nearby science platform as landmarks; these are approximate published directions.

  1. Pass the Welcome Center and look for the rock pillar in the open seabed.
  2. Check the pillar and surrounding sand for yellow crystals.
  3. Confirm the Sulfur interaction label before collecting a loose piece.

Collect a loose piece or return with the mining tool

Small Sulfur pieces can be picked up by hand. Larger deposits require the Sonic Resonator; use the mining guide if you have not built it yet.

Kingy trip check: confirm your pickup in the inventory, keep a return landmark and leave while you still have oxygen for the journey back.

Separate the first pickup from a deeper hot-region trip

GamesRadar describes some Sulfur near the edge of the eastern hot region before the damaging heat. More is reported inside the hot area, where it recommends Heat Tolerance.

A nearby deposit does not make the whole route safe. Watch temperature, health and oxygen, and turn back when your supplies require it. Follow the Angel Combs guide before attempting deeper heated gathering.

Reserve one Sulfur and check the Ingot quantity

Both PC Gamer recipe lists require 1 Sulfur, 1 Wiring Kit and 1 Basic Battery for the Repair Tool. Their Titanium Ingot counts disagree: the dedicated Repair Tool guide lists 1, while the Sulfur guide lists 2. Check the full Fabricator recipe in your build before gathering an exact batch.

Buddy System changed the Repair Tool unlock to two scans. Follow the existing tool guide for fragment choices; older three-scan instructions are superseded.

Use resource pings without relying on a guaranteed yield

Adaptive Measures fixed Sulfur failing to appear on the Scanner Station in one Heat Zone of the Overgrown Ruins. The Scanner Station guide explains how to select a resource contact.

This fix does not guarantee every contact or establish respawn timing. These are source-based gathering pointers; Kingy has not play-tested this route or measured a farming yield.
