Mine large deposits with the Sonic Resonator

Solve the “unknown tool” gate and clear Bloom Biofilm.

Early Access 1.2 · Buddy System Hotfix 1, September 3 amendment · Updated 2026-09-12

The short answer

Scan two Sonic Resonators, refine materials with a Processor and craft at a full Fabricator. This tool opens large ore veins and removes Bloom Biofilm.

Before you start

  • A charged Scanner and a base with full Fabricator.
  • Gather small Lead chunks before attempting large Lead veins.

Find the tool and build it

At the Old Habitat roughly 370 m north, one fragment is right of the entrance and another is ahead near the fallen table. A nearby alternative sits on a desk in a cave around 345° north of the Lifepod.

Craft with 1 Basic Battery, 2 Titanium Ingots, 2 Lead and 1 Wiring Kit. Loose Lead is reported in a ravine about 250 m northeast. Make the ingots with a Processor; the Lifepod Fabricator is insufficient.

Remove the doorway blockage

Charge the Resonator while aiming at Bloom Biofilm, then release the completed charge. A partial attempt or the Multitool will not substitute for the required tool. Scan the Processor at the Old Habitat if ingot production is blocking you.

Current creature behaviour

Buddy System gives the Sonic Resonator a 10-second creature stun. The Feedback Resonator now stuns creatures too, instead of making them flee. Keep enough charge for the obstacle you came to clear.
