The short answer

The first Angel Comb grants Heat Tolerance for the hot region. The later Alien Ruins comb needs ranged Feedback Resonator shots and leads to Axum Vision.

Before you start

  • First comb: Sonic Resonator, oxygen equipment and healing.
  • Later comb: Feedback Resonator upgrade and a suitable Tadpole depth module.

Open the first comb

  1. Find the cave about 200 m northwest of the Lifepod, near a 300° bearing.
  2. Follow both large tubes to their infected chambers and destroy the viral flowers.
  3. Return to clear the flowers around the central comb.
  4. Collect Heat Tolerance. Use opened oxygen funnels and a distraction flare when needed.

Prepare for the Alien Ruins comb

Its blooms close when approached. Use Feedback Resonator projectiles from a distance. Clear the branches under the Research Base, in the side ravine, and beneath the shipwreck reached by the northeast tube, then clear the centre.

This route descends beyond 250 m; upgrade the Tadpole before taking it down. Axum Vision enables interaction with alien devices and the Power Plant progression.

If a turbine build disappeared

The September 3 hotfix amendment restores affected in-progress Axum Powerplant Turbines. Previously affected players should see the construction ghost again and can finish it without repaying the resources. New builds use normal costs. This is a repair for affected saves, not a free-building rule.
