The short answer
Use the Sonic Resonator on white-spiked deposits near the Alien Ruins Research Base. Collect Creature Enamel, then combine 1 Creature Enamel with 1 Glass at a Fabricator to craft Enameled Glass.
Before you start
- Reach the Alien Ruins Research Base and bring a charged Sonic Resonator.
- Leave inventory space and plan oxygen for the return. Keep your Tadpole within its current depth rating; the finished Mk. 1 upgrade is not a blanket prerequisite for gathering its ingredient.
Use the Research Base as your starting landmark
Two walkthroughs describe nearby gathering landmarks. Their bearings differ, so use the surrounding terrain to confirm a deposit rather than treating these descriptions as one precise route.

Mine the pale spikes on dark deposits
Look for pale, needle-like growths protruding from dark mineral deposits. Both walkthroughs use the regular Sonic Resonator to collect them. This is a deposit-gathering trip; you do not need to kill a Needler for the material.
PC Gamer notes that the deposit shape can make a shot miss. Reposition and aim at the deposit if the first attempt fails, then confirm Creature Enamel in your inventory. Both sources warn about nearby Needlers; GamesRadar also warns that they can damage the Tadpole.
Kingy trip check: leave when health, tool charge or oxygen requires it. Keep your return landmark in view where possible and avoid filling every inventory slot before confirming the pickup.
Unlock the recipe and use a Fabricator
GameWith reports that picking up Creature Enamel unlocks the Enameled Glass blueprint. Check the Basic Materials category at a Fabricator after collecting it. GameWith and MetaForge list the same ingredients and station.
- Collect Creature Enamel and confirm the blueprint is available.
- Bring the Glass and Creature Enamel to a Fabricator, select Enameled Glass and craft it.
- Confirm the finished material in your inventory before starting the upgrade recipe.

Reserve the glass for your chosen upgrade
Enameled Glass appears in the Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 1, Haul Chassis and Bioscanner recipes. Follow the linked vehicle and tool guides for their other ingredients, scans and crafting stations.
Use the crafting-stations guide if you still need ordinary Glass or a full base Fabricator. If the Enameled Glass recipe is missing, check that you collected the material and that you are using the intended Fabricator before gathering another batch.
