Before you start
- For the normal purchase route, Yagluth defeated and Haldor found, with 3,000 coins available.
- A defended home coop, wood and stone for building and a fire, plus an adjacent food and egg chest.
- A Butcher knife and basic cooking stations; honey-glazed chicken additionally needs a Food preparation table, Stone oven and Mistlands Jotun puffs.
Bring two eggs home safely
Haldor sells an ordinary Egg for 1,500 coins after Yagluth. Two eggs cost 3,000 coins because the flock needs a pair of adults to reproduce. This is an in-game coin budget. Dragon eggs used for Moder are a different item.
The Sealed Tower side quest can provide ordinary eggs through its loot before that trader unlock. Treat it as a difficult optional expedition, not a required shortcut. Follow its combat and access route before relying on that alternative.
- Build the coop before spending the seed money. Keep the eggs in inventory or a chest until its heat arrangement is ready.
- Buy two eggs through the trader route and return using your tested portal. Ordinary hen eggs can pass through a normal wood portal.
- Reserve this first pair for hatching. Cooking either starter egg leaves the farm unable to replace itself.

Separate warmth from direct fire contact
- Enclose a small sheltered room with a roof, a secure door and room for the future birds to move. Follow the shelter guide for a rain-protected fire and smoke outlet.
- Place a lit campfire behind a barrier so newly hatched chicks cannot walk onto it. Keep the incubating ground beside the heat rather than directly in the fire.
- Split the eggs into single items and drop them separately on the sheltered warm ground. A stack does not incubate correctly. Hover each egg and confirm Warm; allow the displayed status time to update.
- Keep the heat fueled and the room secure. The reference hatching time is about 30 minutes while warm; the chickens then need to grow into adult hens before breeding. Do nearby base chores instead of leaving the first setup unattended.

Choose feed that does not empty the garden reserve
Hatched birds are already tame. Drop feed within reach of the adult hens: dandelions, beech or birch seeds, carrot/turnip/onion seeds, or raw barley. Barley flour is not feed. Gather dandelions in Meadows and save spare tree seeds from logging; use only surplus crop seeds after securing the next planting.
Keep adults fed, calm and near one another while the coop stays active. The reference checks for a partner within four meters and fewer than ten hens, chickens and loose eggs within ten meters. Collect eggs into storage regularly; dividing one crowded room with a wall does not create a separate population area.
- Retain two adult breeders and set aside at least two replacement eggs in a chest away from the coop as an editorial recovery reserve.
- Decide what each batch is for before dropping it: cold stored eggs for later, separate warm eggs for replacement birds, or surplus eggs for cooking.
- Let meat birds become adults before slaughter. Keep the breeders in a separate compartment and close its door before using the knife.
- For a meat-focused farm, incubate batches you can house safely. For an egg-focused farm, collect eggs before they sit warm and hatch.

Finish the first food without a Mistlands ingredient
A surplus egg becomes Cooked egg in a level-1 Cauldron. A surplus adult hen provides Chicken meat when slaughtered with the Butcher knife; roast that raw meat on an ordinary Cooking station over a lit fire. Collect the cooked meat before it burns.
These are ready health foods for a broader meal loadout. Add two other distinct foods, including a stamina choice appropriate to the trip; raising chickens does not replace the food plan in your current biome guide.

Turn raw chicken into a Mistlands meal
- Use the Mistlands farming route to gather and grow Jotun puffs. Keep mushroom planting stock separate from the cooking portion.
- Collect hive honey and reserve raw Chicken meat. Do not roast this batch: cooked chicken is not the preparation ingredient.
- Build or use the existing Food preparation table and Stone oven from the Plains kitchen route. The table needs iron; the oven needs the artisan-table building dependency unlocked through Moder, iron and Surtling cores.
- Combine one raw Chicken meat, three Honey and two Jotun puffs into one uncooked honey-glazed chicken. Bake it in the fueled Stone oven and collect it when cooked.
- Store finished portions with the expedition foods. Keep honey allocated for meads and breeding resources intact before repeating the batch.
| Make | Materials per craft | Station |
|---|---|---|
| 1 × Beehive | 10 Wood + 1 Queen bee | Hammer; within workbench range |
| 1 × Artisan table | 2 Dragon tear + 10 Wood | Hammer; no station required |
| 1 × Food preparation table | 5 Iron + 20 Fine wood + 15 Leather scraps | Hammer; within workbench range |
| 1 × Stone oven | 15 Iron + 20 Stone + 4 Surtling core | Hammer; within artisan-table range |
| 1 × Uncooked honey-glazed chicken | 1 Chicken meat + 3 Honey + 2 Jotun puffs | Food preparation table |
| 1 × Honey-glazed chicken | 1 Uncooked honey-glazed chicken | Stone oven |

You are ready when…
0 of 3 ready
Saved in this browserWhen something goes wrong
Haldor has no eggs.
The ordinary stock unlock requires Yagluth’s defeat. Complete that journey, or separately follow the harder Sealed Tower route; extra coins alone do not bypass the gate.
Eggs remain cold or do not hatch.
Check shelter, active fueled heat and the Warm hover status, and split every stack into individual eggs. Move the eggs beside heat without putting them on the fire.
Fed hens stop laying.
Collect nearby eggs, count chicks as well as adults, and reduce the local population. Keep two suitable adults close together and remain nearby so breeding checks run.
The coop was destroyed.
Clear the threat, repair the enclosure and guarded heater, then hatch the backup eggs. If no pair or backup remains, buy replacements or recover eggs through the tower route.
Honey-glazed chicken is missing or cannot be eaten.
Check that the meat is raw and use the Food preparation table. Its uncooked output must then be baked in the Stone oven; a cauldron upgrade does not replace either station.
