Choose a Forsaken power and use it at the right time

Pre-1.0 reference · not revalidated for 1.0 · Evidence scope ↓

Quick answer

Return a boss trophy to its matching Sacrificial Stone at the world’s starting circle, hang it and select the power. Activate your bound Forsaken power action when ready; selection alone gives no active bonus. Each use lasts five minutes and starts a shared twenty-minute cooldown. Choose for the next job: Eikthyr for travel, Elder for gathering, Moder for hauling, or a combat power suited to the threat.

Unlock and select boss powers, plan the five-minute window, share effects with allies, and avoid relying on obsolete bonuses or a cooldown reset.

Before you start

  • At least one recovered boss trophy. The Eikthyr route gives the first unlock; later powers require their corresponding boss trophies.
  • A known route back to the Sacrificial Stones. Keep a nearby return portal outside the protected building area once portal travel is available.
  • A supplied expedition kit and renewed Rested timer. A temporary power does not replace food, equipment, a needed resistance mead or a recovery plan.

Separate unlocking, selecting and activating

The Sacrificial Stones are separate from a boss’s summoning altar. Keep the trophy route connected to home storage rather than taking valuable gear on an unnecessary cross-world trip. If a nearby portal cannot be placed because of the protected area, move the build site farther from the circle; do not try altering the stones.

  1. Bring the recovered trophy to the starting stone circle marked on the map. Match the boss carving and interact with its trophy hook. A trophy mounted as decoration at your house is not this unlock.
  2. Interact with the matching stone to select the unlocked power, then check the power indicator. You can select only one power to activate yourself; visit the circle again to change it.
  3. Return to the prepared departure point. Check your control settings for the Forsaken power action, then activate it from a safe position. The default keyboard binding is F; use the actual binding or controller prompt for your setup.
  4. Wait for the activation animation to finish and check that the effect is present before entering danger. You briefly cannot move during that animation, so activate before an enemy reaches you.

Choose for the next job using the current effects

The effect column follows the live Call to Arms rebalance. The suggested uses are our recommendations. A later boss power is not automatically a better choice for an earlier resource run, and you cannot use a boss’s reward to prepare for your first victory over that boss.

Resistance percentages below describe the named modifier. They are not promises that the final health lost from every attack falls by that amount; armor, damage types and other effects matter.

Released Forsaken effects and the job we would choose them for
PowerDocumented effectSuggested use
Eikthyr60% less running, jumping and swimming stamina use.Long approaches and retreats. Still preserve enough stamina to reach shore.
The Elder60% more chopping/mining damage; 30% more health regeneration.A prepared wood or ore run with repaired tools. This does not unlock a harder resource.
Bonemass25% physical resistance; no block stamina cost; 5 stamina returned per block.Physical melee pressure with a suitable shield, fresh food and room to retreat.
ModerTailwind while sailing; +300 carry weight; +10% movement speed; 50% frost resistance.A short final cargo haul or adverse-wind sailing leg. Unload before the effect expires.
Yagluth50% lightning resistance; +25 Farming skill; +10% damage.Farm work or general damage. It no longer provides the old fire/frost bundle.
The Queen+100% eitr regeneration; no sneak stamina cost; 50% poison resistance. An established magic loadout or deliberate stealth. You still need eitr food and a full bar to cast.
Fader+100% adrenaline gain; 50% lower stagger-meter modifier; 50% fire resistance.Post-Fader combat with an equipped trinket. No guaranteed proc schedule or lava immunity.

Finish preparation before spending the five minutes

The five-minute effect and twenty-minute cooldown start with the same use. Once an uninterrupted effect ends, approximately fifteen minutes of that cooldown remain; it is not twenty more minutes after the buff ends. Changing the selected power, sleeping or logging off does not clear or shorten the cooldown. Keep playing the ordinary route and inspect readiness rather than trying to reset it.

Our recommendation is to budget the mission so it remains recoverable if the power expires. Keep frost protection for the whole Mountain trip, and preserve ordinary poison preparation rather than relying on a temporary window for a long expedition.

  1. Select the power while organizing the trip, then repair, eat, renew Rested and pack the cargo or combat supplies. Check that the cooldown is ready before relying on a planned activation.
  2. For gathering, reach the chosen trees or deposit before activating Elder. Keep a repair plan and storage space. For a boss, clear and prepare the approach first, then activate shortly before engagement from a position where the animation is safe.
  3. For a Moder haul, identify a nearby chest or unload point before taking a weight that depends on the bonus. Watch the remaining timer and deposit the load early. If the bonus expires, split the cargo or use the cart and boat route instead of becoming stranded with a full pack.
  4. While sailing, have the player steering carry the Moder effect. It adjusts wind direction, not wind strength; a calm sea still limits sail speed. Keep paddling and route choices available instead of assuming a fixed arrival time.

Keep the defense that works when the bonus ends

Bonemass changes blocking’s stamina cost; it does not make every hit blockable. Block armor and your maximum-health-dependent stagger limit still matter. A large hit can stagger you and defeat the block. Follow the enemy’s attack response, keep food current and move away from attacks your shield cannot handle.

Matching resistance sources do not multiply. In particular, Crystal Heart’s physical resistance does not add another layer to Bonemass. Pick a trinket for another useful effect if you are deliberately using Bonemass for that encounter.

The Queen improves regeneration, not maximum eitr or instant refill. The magic food and equipment route still determines whether a spell fits your capacity. Fire or poison resistance is not immunity: keep healing, exits and the right environmental protection.

Fader’s adrenaline increase only helps the resource while a trinket is equipped. Follow the adrenaline guide and let the chosen item trigger through ordinary combat. Do not stay in a failing fight merely to fill its meter; faster gain does not guarantee twice as many useful activations.

Choose between shared coverage and different bonuses

Only one power is selected on your character for your own activation. That does not prevent receiving a different ally’s power at the same time. This distinction resolves references that loosely say only one power can be active while also describing multiplayer stacking.

  1. Before a group expedition, say which power each player has selected and who will activate first. Regroup within the documented ten-meter sharing range, comfortably closer rather than at its edge.
  2. Activate in a safe position and have each player check their received effect. A player who arrived late or remained out of range should not assume the bonus was shared.
  3. If the group chose the same power, stagger activations near the end of the current effect. Simultaneously using four copies does not multiply its strength. With four ready players, five-minute windows can theoretically cover the twenty-minute cycle; missed positioning or disrupted timing can leave a gap.
  4. If players chose different powers, they can share different effects for the same difficult opening. That spends several cooldowns at once. Decide whether the immediate benefit is worth having fewer ready powers for a later emergency.

Recover the equipment with the cooldown you actually have

  1. After a death or failed attempt, check the power indicator before leaving home. Do not assume it is ready just because you respawned or changed equipment.
  2. Eat reserve meals, regain Rested and equip the backup kit. Use the established return portal and draw enemies away from the grave before retrieving gear. Delay a difficult approach if your plan depends on a still-unavailable power.
  3. If the wrong power was selected, return to the stone circle when safe and choose for the next attempt. Selection does not reset the shared cooldown. Restore the supply and transport route before risking the recovered gear again.

When something goes wrong

The trophy is mounted but I have no active bonus.

Use the correct Sacrificial Stone to select the power, then activate the bound action when ready. A decorative trophy mount or selection alone does not activate it.

Changing powers did not let me use one immediately.

They share the same twenty-minute cooldown. Look at the current indicator; switching, sleeping and logging off are not resets.

Moder wore off while I was carrying the load.

Stop somewhere defensible and deposit or split cargo until you can move under your normal limit. Next time set an unload point within the effect window.

Bonemass was active but my block failed.

Stamina cost and block capacity are separate. Restore health-food capacity, inspect the shield and avoid hits that overwhelm its block or stagger limit.

My friend activated a power but I received nothing.

Regroup within range before activation and check the status afterward. Being nearby later does not establish that you were inside the sharing radius when it triggered.

Keep the result useful

Use the success check to finish this job, restock any reserves you used and return to the supporting journeys or your current boss objective.
