COMBAT / GUIDE

Combat & preparation

How battles, hero abilities, weapons and Dagsion’s preparation loop fit together in the current pre-release information.

The loop in one view

Prepare → move → fight → recover → prepare again. Dagsion is where you recruit, train, shop, seek Blessings and use the inn. Outside the city, world-map movement advances time and leads to quests, Skirmishes, resources and dungeons. Source 12

What happens in battle

Fortune’s Weave uses tactical grid battles where positioning, terrain and weapon matchups matter. Nintendo has named swords, gauntlets, spears, axes, bows and magic. Spears can be effective against cavalry, axes trade accuracy for attack power, bows attack from range, gauntlets aid evasion and magic can damage armoured foes or heal and support allies. Source 12

Combat Arts add a second decision: they can increase power, range or another tactical advantage, but they spend weapon durability. Hero abilities use HP and charge the Blaze Gauge. The halfway point gives a power boost; filling the gauge triggers Burst, ends the bonuses and halves maximum HP.

Fortuna’s Blessing is a separate rewind ability. It lets you return to an earlier point in a battle after a move, which makes it a tool for reconsidering a decision rather than a replacement for ordinary healing or Blessings.

The between-battle checklist

  1. Check the next deadline. World-map movement advances time, so do not spend turns without knowing what you are moving toward.
  2. Scout when you can. Arena Plaza can show other matches and provide useful information about opponents.
  3. Train once the window opens. Nintendo describes a once-weekly Arena Plaza training opportunity that can unlock moves and support stronger weapons.
  4. Fix the roster. Recruit allies with gifts or shared meals when a recruit refuses, then check class and weapon access.
  5. Spend materials at the Shopping Arcade. Buy or enhance weapons, but keep a record of costs until the full economy is documented.
  6. Visit Temple Row. Blessings can provide temporary stat buffs, damage reduction and other advantages.
  7. Use the inn before advancing. Rest, eat, gain experience, gather materials and look for character conversations.

Two battle formats to keep separate

FormatWhat is currently described
Standard tactical battleGrid-based combat built around unit positioning, weapons, terrain and hero abilities.
Dungeon ClashA turn-based dungeon fight where allies can combine attacks.

Still to be revealed

The release build must establish the full turn order, terrain rules, enemy AI, damage formulas, durability values, Blaze Gauge recovery, Blessing duration, difficulty options and unit-loss rules. This guide gives you the confirmed loop without pretending those details are known.
