Start with the right expectation
Fortune’s Weave is a tactical RPG with a large preparation layer. You are not expected to solve the whole roster, class tree or world map before the first match. The official guidance encourages switching between the four heroes, and the developers say there is no irreversible correct order. Source 51 ↗ Source 57 ↗
The opening loop
Prepare → move → fight → recover → prepare again. Dagsion is the hub for recruiting, training, weapon work, Blessings, the inn and switching stories. The world map adds towns, quests, Skirmishes, materials and dungeons; moving across it advances time. Source 12 ↗
Your first-session checklist
- Choose a hero you want to understand. Cai, Dietrich, Theodora and Leda each have a distinct path. You can change stories later at the Pale Raven’s perch.
- Learn the forecast before forcing a win. Check range, counterattacks, accuracy and the enemy’s class before committing. Magic is especially useful against armor, bows threaten flying enemies and spears are described as effective against cavalry. Source 57 ↗
- Talk to potential recruits early. Give a character at least one gift if you want to unlock the meal route, then check the inn. Support and renown requirements differ by path. Source 59 ↗ Source 61 ↗
- Build a small, complementary team. One durable frontliner, one ranged unit, one magic or healing option and one flexible unit will teach you more than spreading every resource across the whole People list.
- Raise renown instead of hoarding turns. Main matches, optional quests and audiences with the gods are reported sources of renown; higher renown opens facilities and recruit options. Source 57 ↗ Source 59 ↗
- Visit towns before buying everything in Dagsion. Towns can sell local wares and provide information. The route is not only a battle-to-battle sprint.
- Watch the deadline and the green check. Reported walkthrough guidance says you can be away from the next mission when free time ends once the destination has been visited and the interface shows readiness. Treat that as a guide-reported rule until your save confirms it. Source 58 ↗
- Use auto-activities when you need safe progress. The inn can advance turns while building money, experience or materials; use it when you have no urgent conversation or map objective. Source 57 ↗
- Repair before a big match. Combat Arts spend durability, and the reported blacksmith unlock is Renown 4. Keep a repair and material check in your pre-battle routine. Source 64 ↗
- Do not panic about a missed side activity. Nintendo says there are no permanently missable elements, while reported guides distinguish replayable content from Part I Paralogues with limited windows. Record the date and revisit the Paralogues & deadline quests page before advancing. Source 51 ↗ Source 62 ↗
A low-stress free-time order
| If you need… | Start with… | Why |
|---|---|---|
| More bodies | People list → one gift → inn | Recruitment often combines support, renown and an extra condition. |
| More damage | Class check → weapon check → Arena Plaza | Class changes weapon access and movement; training is a limited opportunity. |
| More money or materials | Quest board → town → inn auto-activity | Optional content can raise renown and the inn can use spare turns productively. |
| A safer next battle | Scout information → repair → forecast | Matchups and counterattacks matter more than a generic tier label. |
| A different story | Pale Raven’s perch | Parallel path progress is a designed part of the game. |
Three mistakes to avoid
- Treating every recruit as a first-week objective. Pick a few people and keep the rest as later targets.
- Using a Combat Art on every attack. Arts are powerful, but durability is a resource; normal attacks do not have the same reported durability cost. Source 64 ↗
- Importing rules from another Fire Emblem game. Check the current guide’s evidence label for unit loss, difficulty, class exams and item effects.
For exact records, continue to How to recruit allies, Support and meal guide, Weapon repair, forging & item economy and Paralogues & deadline quests.
