A recruit still refuses: stop spending and identify the missing condition
Choose the current hero's route in Recruitment database first. A condition from another hero's row is not a requirement for this playthrough. Then compare the candidate's current response with the listed Support, Renown and extra condition.
| What you have checked | What to do next |
|---|---|
| Support is below the reported target | Work on that relationship, then talk again; do not assume one more gift completes every condition. |
| Support is sufficient but Renown is lower | Check an available match or optional quest before spending more gifts. |
| A quest, item or story condition remains | Follow that named condition; repeated meals do not prove it has been satisfied. |
| Guides disagree or your screen differs | Use the visible response in your save and retain the conflict label. Do not treat the cheapest reported value as confirmed. |
This is a decision order for using the attributed requirements below, not an additional recruitment formula. Nintendo confirms gifts and meals as ways to persuade some candidates; individual thresholds remain source-scoped.
Open your recruitment plan. Mark the desired recruit, record your current supplies and check blockers before paying. The companion does not read your save.
The recruitment formula
In Part I, recruitment is usually a combination of the following checks:
| Check | How to work on it | Evidence status |
|---|---|---|
| Support | Give a gift, then invite the character to meals; Stage Shows are another reported option after the theater opens. | Reported guide detail |
| Renown | Clear main missions, subquests, Paralogues and other events; audiences with gods are also reported to raise it. | Reported guide detail |
| Extra condition | A question, item, currency payment or short quest may be required. | Reported guide detail |
| Paralogue | Some allies require a particular Paralogue, and path access differs. | Reported guide detail |
| Story timing | Fabio on Leda’s path and Gaitz on Dietrich’s path are reported as story-gated examples. | Reported guide detail |
Nintendo confirms the player can find warriors around Dagsion and persuade reluctant people with gifts or shared meals. The complete requirements are not an official Nintendo table, so every numeric value below remains attributed reporting until independently checked in a retail save. Source 12 ↗ Source 59 ↗
Reliable opening routine
- Open the People list whenever you return to Dagsion.
- Talk to candidates before spending gifts or turns so you know the current response.
- Give one gift to unlock the meal route where applicable.
- Use meals to build the lord’s support with the candidates you actually plan to deploy.
- Check the recruit’s status again after the next renown or story milestone.
- If the status names a quest, item or Paralogue, record that condition instead of repeating gifts blindly.
- Add the recruit to a battle before judging them; later Part I recruits are reported to arrive at a higher level with better equipment. Source 58 ↗
Compare routes before choosing allies
Recruitment database now has 46 Part I ally entries and twelve four-route requirement comparisons. It separates automatic joins from optional recruitment and flags conflicting guide values. Use that page for numbers; use Paralogues & deadline quests when a recruit names an optional battle.
The current records do not establish a best-recruit ranking or complete every joining condition. Decide which role your party needs, then check the candidate’s route, Support, Renown and extra condition before spending.
