Before you start
- Record whether you are in the demo or Steam Early Access and the displayed version. The detailed source was last edited April 26, 2026; Kingy has not reproduced its rules.
- Use an above-ground site. The developer’s underground restriction is covered in the Early Access start guide. Read the material costs displayed by your game before gathering.
Enemies interrupting sleep? Check the settlement site
The September replies recommended a plains settlement near a Journey Shrine. Update v0.1.0.3 changes the torch rules: standard suppression is 25% within six tiles; Quartz torches provide 50% and coloured crystal torches 75%. Suppression applies to nearby spawn attempts, not removal of enemies already present.
This is a launch-week recommendation, not a guaranteed safe zone. Kingy has not measured suppression distance, enemy counts or sleep behavior on the current build.
The developer describes biome multipliers of 10× in Plains, 3× in Woodlands and 0.5× in Labyrinth, with 1× elsewhere. It says basic torches can fully suppress nearby spawns in Plains and suppress them by 75% in Woodlands. These are reported spawn rules, not a guarantee against enemies walking into a settlement; Kingy has not measured them.
- Check whether the settlement borders forest; consider plains using the existing room checklist.
- Place torches using the current recipe and controls, then compare the same settlement area. The patch supplies a six-tile suppression range, but no tested layout or universal safe-zone guarantee.
- If attacks continue, record the location, difficulty, torch layout and sleep message. Do not assume light removes existing attackers or prevents every new encounter.

Build the reported room layout
Wiki.gg lists walls, flooring, a door, a bed and a light source. It gives an interior minimum of 2×3 tiles and maximum of 24×24. These dimensions are historical documentation, not a current-build measurement.
- Close the wall boundary, including a door.
- Add flooring, a bed and a light.
- Count the interior rather than the outside footprint.
- Check the game’s room feedback before expanding or decorating.

Place a piece directly from its recipe
The same source describes selecting a recipe in the crafting interface, aiming at a valid tile and using the primary action to craft and place. Alternatively, craft pieces into inventory and place them from the hotbar. White indicates valid placement; red indicates a blocked tile; a red cross indicates an invalid location.
For its default gamepad setup, the guide uses the right stick to aim and a stick click to switch automatic/manual placement. Check your current Control Options before relying on that binding.

Correct a misplaced piece
Wiki.gg describes using a Hammer’s primary action on a placed item to return it to inventory. It also says replacing a piece returns the old item. Kingy has not tested inventory-full behavior.

If the NPC still will not move in
Capture the room feedback and NPC dialogue first. Compare the actual layout with the checklist above, changing one feature at a time so the result is identifiable. Do not assume a completed-looking building proves that the game has accepted it.
A room rejection and an NPC already stuck in an old save are different observations. The Early Access start guide explains the developer’s September 25 recovery note. The exact room-assignment menu, occupancy rules and current minimum dimensions still need gameplay verification.
For an unresolved case, retain the build number, world/save age, room dimensions, screenshot of the entire boundary and the NPC’s assignment state. No world deletion, character reset or guaranteed bug fix is established by this checklist.
