THE SHORT ANSWER
For a first clear, choose a method you can repeat with your current equipment. Faster-kill and trick-shot claims need comparable conditions; Kingy has no timed benchmark establishing a fastest method.

Compare the approaches
Opening melee: low equipment commitment; requires reading the crab’s recovery window. Useful before firearms and easier to coordinate with a crew. PC Gamer recommends a melee upgrade for the solo Spider Crab.

- Lighthouse
- Cost
- Low
- Execution
- Dodge, then short attacks
- Risk
- Close contact
- Repeatability
- Reported strategy; not measured
- Solo / co-op planning · Kingy advice
- Solo: leave an escape route. Co-op: take turns approaching, with someone watching the next attack.
Movement with a ranged weapon: a flexible progression choice with an upgrade budget. Mobalytics describes clearing only obstructing piranhas and maintaining a route around the main boss. A clear reload window matters more than shooting constantly.
- Stage
- Forest onward
- Cost
- Weapon + upgrades
- Execution
- Move, fire, create reload space
- Risk
- Getting surrounded
- Repeatability
- Reported strategy; not measured
- Solo / co-op planning · Kingy advice
- Solo: leave room to reload. Co-op: agree movement lanes before the fight.
Prepared explosives: potentially useful burst damage, but the Bean guide’s promise of standing on the pile with friendly fire off conflicts with newer developer rules. A commenter reports self-detonation. Do not use that positioning as a reliable shortcut.
- Stage
- After dynamite access
- Cost
- Consumables per attempt
- Execution
- Placement and timing
- Risk
- Self-damage and item loss
- Repeatability
- Conflicting advice; setup needs testing
- Solo / co-op planning · Kingy advice
- Solo or co-op: keep every player clear of the blast. Rehearse positioning before a timed attempt.
Style shots: practice on an ordinary catch before mixing spins, aerial movement and a finishing shot into a boss attempt. Our recommendation is to learn one input at a time and inspect the displayed result.
- Stage
- After weapon access
- Cost
- Practice and gear
- Execution
- High; several inputs
- Risk
- Missing the finish
- Repeatability
- Depends on the move and player
- Solo / co-op planning · Kingy advice
- Solo: practice on manageable catches. Co-op: agree who gets the finishing hit.

Friendly fire off does not protect you from yourself
Patch 1.0.11 explicitly makes your own explosives lethal even with friendly fire disabled. Plan space between yourself and the blast.

Why did that bonus not appear?
Brachydios | Akari reports that No Scope/Quick Scope, Longshot/Point Blank, and Dogfight/Aerial/Fly Fishing are mutually exclusive within each group. Their guide also says Overkill does not apply to bosses. These are attributed code-inspection claims, not a Kingy audit.
To compare methods fairly, record the same boss, patch, difficulty, player count, weapon upgrades, attempts and deaths. Time from the summon to the confirmed kill, and count consumables. Publish the sample size alongside any “fastest” claim.
