Final Fantasy Resonance official cover art

All 33 side quests: where each one starts and what it pays

Quick answer

Final Fantasy Resonance has 33 side quests (the game files list 33 'side story' quests). Four open in Chapter 1, four in Chapter 2, two in Chapter 3, fifteen in Chapter 5, four in Chapter 6 and four in Chapter 7; none open in Chapter 4, though Mechabo Evolved runs through it. Eight are party-member quests that raise that character's stats for good, seven recruit a Vision (Camille, Wilhelm, Aileen, Victoria, Amelia, Charlotte and Ayaka), and two unlock Espers (Leviathan from Nichol's Duty, Odin from Iron Splitter). PowerPyx counts no missable trophies and says you can free-roam after the story, and no source we checked flags a side quest as missable.

The chapter column is the one each quest's game-data page lists. The start column follows RPG Site and Game Rant, which agree on where every quest starts. Rewards are where the game data, RPG Site and Game Rant agree; Leviathan for Nichol's Duty is shown on screen in Gamer Guru's video, and the Big Bridge row notes that only Game Rant adds the Genji Gloves. Some quests open later than their game-data chapter suggests, because they wait for a story point: see 'When quests appear' below.

When quests appear, and whether you can miss them

Side quests are optional. PowerPyx says the eight party-member quests are marked with a blue exclamation mark on the map; its trophy guide counts no missable trophies and it says the whole map stays open in free roam after the story. No source we checked flags any side quest as missable.

The Quests menu has a Sub Quests tab that shows each quest's current goal and its rewards before you finish it; PanyapiN's video shows Dream of an Idealist listed there with Flamberge x1 and 500 gil. Use it to check a reward before you commit to a long errand.

Several quests wait for a story beat inside or after their chapter, so the guides place them differently. Last Respite and Token Legacy are Chapter 5 quests in the game data, but Game Rant lists Last Respite under Chapter 6 and PowerPyx says Token Legacy starts when you sleep at an inn once Chapter 6 begins. A New Leaf is a Chapter 7 quest in the game data, while PowerPyx lists it under Chapter 8 and RPG Site says it opens after Chapter 7. Mechabo Evolved starts in Chapter 2 but its last hunts are in Olderion and Zoldaad; Game Rant ties those rounds to Chapters 3 and 4.

One creator's playthrough shows when these four were actually taken (Community-reported (video)). In CGInferno's Chapter 6 video, Last Respite is accepted at the Grandshelt fountain and Token Legacy after a night at an inn in Gronoa, both with the HUD on Chapter 6, and Errand's End is finished later in the same video. Its Chapter 7 video ends on the Chapter 7 COMPLETE card, and its Chapter 8 video opens on the airship with the HUD still on Chapter 7; A New Leaf is accepted on the deck a few minutes in. This shows each quest open at that point; it doesn't rule out an earlier start.

Missable quests checklist

PowerPyx lists no missable trophies and says free roam stays open after the story, and we found no source that flags any side quest as missable. What can hold a quest back is order. These are the chains to finish first, and the one reward that needs a later chapter.

  1. Finish Elven Maven (Chapter 2) before looking for "Reunion" (Chapter 6); RPG Site says Reunion needs it.
  2. Finish The Call from Beyond (Camille) before O General! My General! appears (RPG Site; 100% Guides' caption).

  5. Meet Gilgamesh at Waterfall Way and beat him on the airship deck near the end of Chapter 5 to open Battle at the Big Bridge (RPG Site; Gamer Guru's caption).
  6. Come back to the Olderion jump rope from Chapter 5 for the 30-jump prize (Game Rant).
  7. Clear all eight party-member quests for the trophy 'Conscience Renewed' (PowerPyx).

The eight party-member quests and their stat bonuses

Reveal solution / story details

Each party member has one personal quest that ends with a permanent attribute bonus for that character on top of the item. PowerPyx says clearing all eight earns the trophy 'Conscience Renewed'. RPG Site and the game data give the same eight bonuses below, and Gamer Guru's video shows Nichol's on screen ('Nichol's attributes increased!').

Quests that unlock Visions, Espers and Mechabo upgrades

Reveal solution / story details

Seven Visions join only through side quests: Camille (The Call from Beyond), Wilhelm (O General! My General!, after Camille), Aileen (Forger of Wills), Victoria (Victoria Revivified), Amelia (Errand's End, after Token Legacy), Charlotte (The Shield of the Weak) and Ayaka (The Admirable Apprentice). The Vision locations page has where each sits in the story.

Two Espers are side-quest rewards: Leviathan for Nichol's Duty in Olderion and Odin for Iron Splitter in Gronoa (see the Esper page). Aileen, recruited through Forger of Wills, is also the smith who turns Adamantite into each character's best weapon.

Mechabo, Lid's robot, is rebuilt and upgraded through a chain of three quests: Arise, Mechabo!, Mechabo Evolved and Mechabo Unleashed. PowerPyx says finishing the chain earns the trophy 'Mechabo Mania'.

Final Fantasy Resonance Trophy Guide & Roadmap ↗Community-reported (text guide), not a Kingy play test. Its entry for the trophy 'My Name Is Ultima…' (Defeat Ultima Weapon) says reloading a cleared save plays a short airship scene about a new presence in Ardra Crater in the south-east of the map, where Ultima Weapon stands and can be fought on interaction; that it is Level 70 with 3.9 million HP; that it can be beaten at Level 60, with 60–65 suggested as a minimum and the fight best left for last; that its strongest attack, Ultima Beam, is flagged by an exclamation mark on the turn bar and red flames above its HP bar; that it inflicts several status ailments; and that the win rewards an Ultima Reactor accessory along with the trophy. It also describes the magic-based party the author used (Reraise first, Shellga, Dispel against its Bravery, and Sakura's damage-nullifying Limit Break Eternal Veil before each Ultima Beam). It also says the Colosseum opens in Chapter 4 in Grandshelt, The Royal Capital, that crafting a first weapon with Aileen earns 'The Weapon that Suits the User' and crafting for all party members earns 'The Weaponsmith'. Its Legendary Arms entries say the first arm earns 'Ancient Artifact' and all twelve 'Legendary Arms', and place the Chamber of Arms on the mountainous island north-west of Dirnado, the Continent of Wind. On Tablet Shards it says the Enigmatic Princess is at Oblivion Palace, just south-east of Grandport Harbour in the Kingdom of Grandshelt, first visitable in Chapter 1; three shards open the first chest (trophy 'Princess's Reward'); and 60 trigger her second memory (trophy 'Memento'), enough to open everything in the first two treasure rooms. Its roadmap (read again on October 24, 2026) also says: none of the 40 trophies are missable; difficulty doesn't affect them, so Casual is fine; one playthrough is enough, with full free roam of the map, quests and collectibles after the story and no New Game+; there is one autosave and 10 manual save slots; and a platinum takes about 50–60 hours. Other entries: the 8th party member joins automatically during Chapter 5; each of the 8 party members has a substory (regular Sub Quests); the chocobo comes in Chapter 1 at the village of Kol and the airship at the start of Chapter 5; the Colosseum has four leagues of five battles, the Fledgling (leftmost, green), Brawler (second, blue) and Gladiator (third, purple) tables; spending and earning gil count cumulatively, Vaan at MR 9 has Double Gil, and you can save, spend 100,000 gil and reload; the King Gil Snapper (Lv.49, weak to Ice, absorbs other elements, very high physical defence), the Metal Gigantuar (8 HP, very high evasion, runs away) and a Gigantuar (lots of MRP) are random encounters on a small forested island past the optional Dragon's Maw dungeon, on the southern tip of the Kingdom of Pharm, open from the Chapter 5 airship but recommended at Level 55; awakening runs one star at a time with a Magicite Shard, then Magicite, then a Magicite Cryst, from a Moogle of Light in most towns or on the airship, Crysts first appearing in Chapter 5 and Magicite sold at the Colosseum late in the game; max Mastery Rank is MR 9 and is kept per character, while awakening stars apply to every character; 1,000 staggers came naturally by Chapter 4; 400 Resonances may need grinding, for example by repeatedly staggering one leftover enemy and using a healing Resonance such as Leah's or Ayaka's; and Mechabo's upgrades run through the side quests 'Arise, Mechabo!' (two Dynamo Stones from Ipooh outside the Dwarven Forge, Chapter 2), 'Mechabo Evolved' (three each of Dhorme Chimera, Medusa, Destroyer and sandworm) and 'Mechabo Unleashed' (from Chapter 5: three Mahadevas on Mysidia's western island and three Malbodooms in western Gronoa, Chapter 6 on). Rechecked October 24, 2026: it counts no missable trophies and says the game has full free-roam after the story; 'Conscience Renewed' is for clearing all party-member substories; 'Mechabo Mania' (upgrade Mechabo to his ultimate form) runs through Arise, Mechabo! in Chapter 2 (two Dynamo Stones from Ipoohs outside the Dwarven Forge), Mechabo Evolved (three each of Dhorme Chimerae, Medusae, Destroyers and Sandworms) and, after Chapter 5, Mechabo Unleashed (three Mahadevas in Mysidia and three Malbodooms in western Gronoa, from Chapter 6), reporting to Verun on the airship. Its Weaponsmith entry says Aileen is recruited through Forger of Wills in Dilmagia, available in Chapter 6. Read again October 25, 2026: the roadmap's three steps are Finish the story (about 40 hours), Side Content (10–15 hours; substories first for their stat boosts, then Legendary Arms and Adamantite) and Defeat Ultima Weapon and clean-up (1–5 hours); it calls Dragon's Maw's random encounters some of the toughest in the game and suggests returning at the end of the game when much stronger; it ties the Metal Gigantuar to 'Priceless Experience' and the King Gil Snapper to 'Struck Gold', and suggests Dualcast and high-level magic such as Ultima against the Metal Gigantuar.Reported ·
