Chapter 5 airship side quests: Aileen, Lid, Nichol, Archwitch Fina and the Big Bridge

Quick answer

Five more Chapter 5 side quests are spread across the map. Forger of Wills (a Gossiping Girl in Dilmagia) recruits Aileen, who forges Adamantite weapons. Lid's Beyond the Blue (the Chairman at Dilmagia Shipyard) ends with Typhon (MeowDB: Lv.35, weak to Ice) for the Chocobo Nitro. Nichol's Duty (Nichol, Olderion) pays an Enchanted Ring, a stat bonus and Leviathan. Archwitch Fina's Last Respite starts in Grandshelt. Battle at the Big Bridge starts after you beat Gilgamesh on the airship deck and ends with him on the Kolobos Bridge.

The quests at a glance

All five are Chapter 5 quests in the game data, and PowerPyx also lists Lid's, Nichol's and Archwitch Fina's under Chapter 5. Game Rant files Last Respite under Chapter 6, and PowerPyx places Forger of Wills in Chapter 6.

None of these is missable as far as any source says: PowerPyx counts no missable trophies and says the map stays open in free roam after the story.

Forger of Wills (Aileen)

Reveal solution / story details

A Gossiping Girl at Dilmagia's entrance (Game Rant) starts the search for the woman who led the rebellion. Aileen is at Dilmagia Shipyard (RPG Site), and you then gather information on her in three regions; RPG Site names the people as the Military Engineer by Dilmagia's weapon and armor shop, the Affable Woman in the Village of Kol and the Former Rebel at the Rebel Hideout. Back at the shipyard she asks you questions, and RPG Site says you pick one of three answers.

The reward is Aileen, the Vision, and a Magicite. Aileen is also the smith who turns each Adamantite into a character's weapon on the airship.

Beyond the Blue (Lid, Typhon)

Reveal solution / story details

The Chairman at Dilmagia Shipyard starts Lid's quest. The blueprints are in the north-west of Mobliz Shipyard, reached with the left elevator (RPG Site). After you talk to Evan on the airship, RPG Site says you fight Typhon before going back to the Chairman.

MeowDB lists Typhon as a boss at Lv.35 with 75,000 HP, weak to Ice, taking half damage from Wind, with 'a skill that removes targets from battle', and dropping an Elixir. WinterNight Gaming's Typhon video (titled Expert; no name label in the frames we checked) backs both: Blizzaga and the ice Limit Burst Absolving Hailstorm land 'Weak' hits, one a 6,134 critical, and the win pays an Elixir. The reward is the Chocobo Nitro (Game Rant: Lid's accessory) and Lid's attribute bonus of HP +100, MP +30, Strength +25 and Magic +25.

Nichol's Duty (Leviathan)

Reveal solution / story details

Nichol gives his own quest in Olderion. RPG Site says to start with the Aggravated Fisherman by the Olderion shops and that you defeat Sahagin in the south-east of the Olderion Federation; no source we checked shows that fight's level.

At the end Leviathan addresses Nichol as Warden of the Waters. Gamer Guru's video then shows the quest completed, 'Nichol's attributes increased!' (HP +100, MP +30, Magic +30, Speed +20) and 'You can now summon Leviathan!'; 100% Guides' video shows the Enchanted Ring before the same notice. RPG Site lists the ring and the bonus but not Leviathan.

Last Respite (Archwitch Fina)

Reveal solution / story details

Archwitch Fina starts her quest in Grandshelt (Game Rant: by the fountain, once both Fina and Archwitch Fina are with you for good). RPG Site puts the two sightseeing stops in eastern Grandshelt and in front of the Grandshelt Colosseum, then the castle garrison and the King. The reward is the Moonlight Ring and, per RPG Site, her attribute bonus of HP +100, MP +30, Magic +30 and Strength +20.

CGInferno's Chapter 6 playthrough (Community-reported (video)) takes it at the start of Chapter 6. Archwitch Fina talks with Rain by the Grandshelt fountain, the card 'Last Respite' QUEST ACCEPTED appears, and the HUD then reads 'Chapter 6 - Tranquility' with 'Last Respite / Show Archwitch Fina around Grandshelt (0/2)'. This shows the quest open in Chapter 6; it doesn't show whether it was already open at the end of Chapter 5.

  1. Show Archwitch Fina around Grandshelt (two stops).
  2. Go to the castle garrison.
  3. Talk to the King of Grandshelt.
  4. Talk to Archwitch Fina on the airship deck.

Battle at the Big Bridge (Gilgamesh)

Reveal solution / story details

RPG Site says the quest starts after you beat Gilgamesh on the Enterprise's deck, which needs your earlier meeting with him at Waterfall Way. It lists the four bridges as north-west of Grandshelt, north-east of Dilmagia, south of Waterfall Way and by Mozul Station; Gilgamesh rejects them, Rain suggests the Kolobos Bridge north of Felicitas, and you cross it with him to fight.

MeowDB has three Gilgamesh entries: Lv.11, Lv.40 (a fight that ends when he calls a Bomb at 20% HP) and Lv.45 with 180,000 HP, described as the only fight against him you can win. RPG Site and Game Rant agree the quest gives the Genji Armor. Game Rant, and the title of Gamer Guru's video about the whole chain, say it also gives the Genji Gloves; RPG Site lists only the Armor. The video ends with Lasswell wearing the Genji Armor, with the Genji Gloves in his equippable list. The game data lists no reward. Gamer Guru's caption says Gilgamesh appears on the airship deck near the end of Chapter 5. The Gilgamesh page covers every fight in detail.

Final Fantasy Resonance Trophy Guide & Roadmap ↗Community-reported (text guide), not a Kingy play test. Its entry for the trophy 'My Name Is Ultima…' (Defeat Ultima Weapon) says reloading a cleared save plays a short airship scene about a new presence in Ardra Crater in the south-east of the map, where Ultima Weapon stands and can be fought on interaction; that it is Level 70 with 3.9 million HP; that it can be beaten at Level 60, with 60–65 suggested as a minimum and the fight best left for last; that its strongest attack, Ultima Beam, is flagged by an exclamation mark on the turn bar and red flames above its HP bar; that it inflicts several status ailments; and that the win rewards an Ultima Reactor accessory along with the trophy. It also describes the magic-based party the author used (Reraise first, Shellga, Dispel against its Bravery, and Sakura's damage-nullifying Limit Break Eternal Veil before each Ultima Beam). It also says the Colosseum opens in Chapter 4 in Grandshelt, The Royal Capital, that crafting a first weapon with Aileen earns 'The Weapon that Suits the User' and crafting for all party members earns 'The Weaponsmith'. Its Legendary Arms entries say the first arm earns 'Ancient Artifact' and all twelve 'Legendary Arms', and place the Chamber of Arms on the mountainous island north-west of Dirnado, the Continent of Wind. On Tablet Shards it says the Enigmatic Princess is at Oblivion Palace, just south-east of Grandport Harbour in the Kingdom of Grandshelt, first visitable in Chapter 1; three shards open the first chest (trophy 'Princess's Reward'); and 60 trigger her second memory (trophy 'Memento'), enough to open everything in the first two treasure rooms. Its roadmap (read again on October 24, 2026) also says: none of the 40 trophies are missable; difficulty doesn't affect them, so Casual is fine; one playthrough is enough, with full free roam of the map, quests and collectibles after the story and no New Game+; there is one autosave and 10 manual save slots; and a platinum takes about 50–60 hours. Other entries: the 8th party member joins automatically during Chapter 5; each of the 8 party members has a substory (regular Sub Quests); the chocobo comes in Chapter 1 at the village of Kol and the airship at the start of Chapter 5; the Colosseum has four leagues of five battles, the Fledgling (leftmost, green), Brawler (second, blue) and Gladiator (third, purple) tables; spending and earning gil count cumulatively, Vaan at MR 9 has Double Gil, and you can save, spend 100,000 gil and reload; the King Gil Snapper (Lv.49, weak to Ice, absorbs other elements, very high physical defence), the Metal Gigantuar (8 HP, very high evasion, runs away) and a Gigantuar (lots of MRP) are random encounters on a small forested island past the optional Dragon's Maw dungeon, on the southern tip of the Kingdom of Pharm, open from the Chapter 5 airship but recommended at Level 55; awakening runs one star at a time with a Magicite Shard, then Magicite, then a Magicite Cryst, from a Moogle of Light in most towns or on the airship, Crysts first appearing in Chapter 5 and Magicite sold at the Colosseum late in the game; max Mastery Rank is MR 9 and is kept per character, while awakening stars apply to every character; 1,000 staggers came naturally by Chapter 4; 400 Resonances may need grinding, for example by repeatedly staggering one leftover enemy and using a healing Resonance such as Leah's or Ayaka's; and Mechabo's upgrades run through the side quests 'Arise, Mechabo!' (two Dynamo Stones from Ipooh outside the Dwarven Forge, Chapter 2), 'Mechabo Evolved' (three each of Dhorme Chimera, Medusa, Destroyer and sandworm) and 'Mechabo Unleashed' (from Chapter 5: three Mahadevas on Mysidia's western island and three Malbodooms in western Gronoa, Chapter 6 on). Rechecked October 24, 2026: it counts no missable trophies and says the game has full free-roam after the story; 'Conscience Renewed' is for clearing all party-member substories; 'Mechabo Mania' (upgrade Mechabo to his ultimate form) runs through Arise, Mechabo! in Chapter 2 (two Dynamo Stones from Ipoohs outside the Dwarven Forge), Mechabo Evolved (three each of Dhorme Chimerae, Medusae, Destroyers and Sandworms) and, after Chapter 5, Mechabo Unleashed (three Mahadevas in Mysidia and three Malbodooms in western Gronoa, from Chapter 6), reporting to Verun on the airship. Its Weaponsmith entry says Aileen is recruited through Forger of Wills in Dilmagia, available in Chapter 6. Read again October 25, 2026: the roadmap's three steps are Finish the story (about 40 hours), Side Content (10–15 hours; substories first for their stat boosts, then Legendary Arms and Adamantite) and Defeat Ultima Weapon and clean-up (1–5 hours); it calls Dragon's Maw's random encounters some of the toughest in the game and suggests returning at the end of the game when much stronger; it ties the Metal Gigantuar to 'Priceless Experience' and the King Gil Snapper to 'Struck Gold', and suggests Dualcast and high-level magic such as Ultima against the Metal Gigantuar.Reported ·
