Zoldaad side quests: the Phantom Train, Rogue Rebel, Token Legacy and two Visions

Quick answer

Five side quests centre on Zoldaad; the game data files them under Chapter 5, and RPG Site says the first two open after Chapter 4. The Call from Beyond starts with a Bewildered Man in the Residential District and ends aboard a phantom train against the Phantom Train True Form (Lv.32; MeowDB: 24,000 HP, weak to Ice and Light); it recruits Camille. O General! My General! (Ozetta, Castle Plaza, after Camille) recruits Wilhelm. Rogue Rebel (Simon, Rebel Hideout) is a manhole code hunt for a Rose Circlet. Token Legacy, Jake's quest, starts after a night at an inn and unlocks Errand's End, which recruits Amelia.

The five quests at a glance

All five are Chapter 5 quests in the game data; RPG Site says The Call from Beyond and Rogue Rebel open after Chapter 4. Two come in a fixed order: O General! My General! after The Call from Beyond, and Errand's End after Token Legacy.

None of these is missable as far as any source says: PowerPyx counts no missable trophies and says the map stays open in free roam after the story.

The Call from Beyond (the phantom train)

Reveal solution / story details

A Bewildered Man in Zoldaad's Residential District (Game Rant: the man on the left) asks about an abandoned station in the south of Zoldaad; RPG Site puts the objective north-west of Pyroviper Cave. There you board a phantom train and question its passengers: four in the first car, then two in the next, until you find the one giving faulty testimony.

The passengers ask questions with set answers. In WinterNight Gaming's video a Civilian Woman asks what keeps the phantom train running and offers three answers (the remorse of the soldiers, an out-of-control engine, or Lazarov's plot). RPG Site's answers, in order: 'General Wilhelm's men' and 'Exposing Lazarov' in the second car, then, back in the first car, 'The remorse of the soldiers' for the blonde Civilian Woman.

  1. Investigate the abandoned station in the south of Zoldaad.
  2. Speak with the four passengers in the first car.

Phantom Train True Form (Lv.32)

Reveal solution / story details

WinterNight Gaming's target label reads 'Lv.32 Phantom Train True Form', with two icons in its Affinities row after the party staggers it. MeowDB lists it as a Reaper-type boss with 24,000 HP, weak to Ice and Light, using Instant Death, Blind and Confuse attacks, and dropping a Knife of Sleep. That video is titled as an Expert run, with Rain, Lasswell, Fina and Nichol in the party.

The reward is Camille, the Vision, plus a Magicite (all three sources). 100% Guides' caption says you need Camille before O General! My General! appears.

O General! My General! (Wilhelm)

Reveal solution / story details

Ozetta in the Zoldaad Castle Plaza offers it after The Call from Beyond. RPG Site puts the two camps south on the Zoldaad continent and west of the Sanctum of Shantotto, and says the Weapons Factory is reached across the completed bridge. The reporter at the end is Foxie, at the Zoldaad Inn (RPG Site). The reward is Wilhelm, the Vision, and a Magicite Cryst.

Rogue Rebel (the manhole code)

Simon at the Rebel Hideout wants the truth about his missing friend Dario (game data); a manhole code leads to a merchant holding Dario's letter. RPG Site names the two people to ask first, a Leisurely Woman in the Residential District and an Amicable Boy in the Slums. You then check a first manhole and five more for parts of a code (six manholes in all, as RPG Site counts them), and find the Robed Merchant in the Commercial District; RPG Site says the answer he wants is 'Wild Rose'. RPG Site shows only part of the code patterns, so this page doesn't give the code.

The reward is a Magicite and a Rose Circlet.

  1. Gather information within Zoldaad (the Residential District and the Slums).
  2. Investigate the manhole.
  3. Examine five more Zoldaad manholes for code parts.
  4. Find the Robed Merchant and answer him.
  5. Deliver the letter to Simon.

6

Token Legacy (Jake)

Reveal solution / story details

The game data lists Jake as the giver, but no NPC offers it: it starts with a cutscene after you sleep at an inn, and the sources disagree on which inn and when. RPG Site says an Olderion inn after the main story at the Nameless Ruins (and isn't sure other inns work), and suspects the Active Time Chat with Jake in the Village of Sunioo may be needed first. PowerPyx says any inn once Chapter 6 starts. 100% Guides' caption says to stay at the inn in Gaberada. The game data files it under Chapter 5.

The reward is the Trick Coin and, per RPG Site, Jake's attribute bonus (HP +100, MP +30, Strength +30, Stamina +20). Finishing it unlocks Errand's End.

CGInferno's Chapter 6 playthrough (Community-reported (video)) shows one trigger that works. The party rests at an inn in an underground cave town (the innkeeper has a bed icon). A dark dream scene with Jake and Amelia follows, then 'Token Legacy' QUEST ACCEPTED appears in the inn room. The HUD reads 'Chapter 6 - Tranquility', the first goal is 'Speak with the Info Dealer in the slums of Zoldaad', and the fast-travel map that follows is titled 'Gronoa, the Shuttered Land'. That fits 100% Guides' Gaberada inn and PowerPyx's Chapter 6 start; it doesn't show whether an earlier or different inn also works.

Errand's End (Amelia)

Reveal solution / story details

After Token Legacy, check the Drofox Gazette board at the Zoldaad Imperial Hotel (RPG Site: Vol. 4 of the gazette). The quest follows Amelia's wanted poster from Zoldaad Castle to Olderion (RPG Site: by the inn) and Waterfall Way. The reward is Amelia, the Vision, and a Magicite. Backseat Guides' caption places it in Chapter 6.

CGInferno finishes it in Chapter 6, about 22 minutes after accepting Token Legacy: the card 'Errand's End' QUEST COMPLETED appears on a Zoldaad street, and the fast-travel map that follows is titled 'Zoldaad Empire Territory' (Community-reported (video)). Along the way the video shows Amelia outside an inn (RPG Site places this step by the Olderion inn) and on a cliff path by a waterfall.

Final Fantasy Resonance Trophy Guide & Roadmap ↗Community-reported (text guide), not a Kingy play test. Its entry for the trophy 'My Name Is Ultima…' (Defeat Ultima Weapon) says reloading a cleared save plays a short airship scene about a new presence in Ardra Crater in the south-east of the map, where Ultima Weapon stands and can be fought on interaction; that it is Level 70 with 3.9 million HP; that it can be beaten at Level 60, with 60–65 suggested as a minimum and the fight best left for last; that its strongest attack, Ultima Beam, is flagged by an exclamation mark on the turn bar and red flames above its HP bar; that it inflicts several status ailments; and that the win rewards an Ultima Reactor accessory along with the trophy. It also describes the magic-based party the author used (Reraise first, Shellga, Dispel against its Bravery, and Sakura's damage-nullifying Limit Break Eternal Veil before each Ultima Beam). It also says the Colosseum opens in Chapter 4 in Grandshelt, The Royal Capital, that crafting a first weapon with Aileen earns 'The Weapon that Suits the User' and crafting for all party members earns 'The Weaponsmith'. Its Legendary Arms entries say the first arm earns 'Ancient Artifact' and all twelve 'Legendary Arms', and place the Chamber of Arms on the mountainous island north-west of Dirnado, the Continent of Wind. On Tablet Shards it says the Enigmatic Princess is at Oblivion Palace, just south-east of Grandport Harbour in the Kingdom of Grandshelt, first visitable in Chapter 1; three shards open the first chest (trophy 'Princess's Reward'); and 60 trigger her second memory (trophy 'Memento'), enough to open everything in the first two treasure rooms. Its roadmap (read again on October 24, 2026) also says: none of the 40 trophies are missable; difficulty doesn't affect them, so Casual is fine; one playthrough is enough, with full free roam of the map, quests and collectibles after the story and no New Game+; there is one autosave and 10 manual save slots; and a platinum takes about 50–60 hours. Other entries: the 8th party member joins automatically during Chapter 5; each of the 8 party members has a substory (regular Sub Quests); the chocobo comes in Chapter 1 at the village of Kol and the airship at the start of Chapter 5; the Colosseum has four leagues of five battles, the Fledgling (leftmost, green), Brawler (second, blue) and Gladiator (third, purple) tables; spending and earning gil count cumulatively, Vaan at MR 9 has Double Gil, and you can save, spend 100,000 gil and reload; the King Gil Snapper (Lv.49, weak to Ice, absorbs other elements, very high physical defence), the Metal Gigantuar (8 HP, very high evasion, runs away) and a Gigantuar (lots of MRP) are random encounters on a small forested island past the optional Dragon's Maw dungeon, on the southern tip of the Kingdom of Pharm, open from the Chapter 5 airship but recommended at Level 55; awakening runs one star at a time with a Magicite Shard, then Magicite, then a Magicite Cryst, from a Moogle of Light in most towns or on the airship, Crysts first appearing in Chapter 5 and Magicite sold at the Colosseum late in the game; max Mastery Rank is MR 9 and is kept per character, while awakening stars apply to every character; 1,000 staggers came naturally by Chapter 4; 400 Resonances may need grinding, for example by repeatedly staggering one leftover enemy and using a healing Resonance such as Leah's or Ayaka's; and Mechabo's upgrades run through the side quests 'Arise, Mechabo!' (two Dynamo Stones from Ipooh outside the Dwarven Forge, Chapter 2), 'Mechabo Evolved' (three each of Dhorme Chimera, Medusa, Destroyer and sandworm) and 'Mechabo Unleashed' (from Chapter 5: three Mahadevas on Mysidia's western island and three Malbodooms in western Gronoa, Chapter 6 on). Rechecked October 24, 2026: it counts no missable trophies and says the game has full free-roam after the story; 'Conscience Renewed' is for clearing all party-member substories; 'Mechabo Mania' (upgrade Mechabo to his ultimate form) runs through Arise, Mechabo! in Chapter 2 (two Dynamo Stones from Ipoohs outside the Dwarven Forge), Mechabo Evolved (three each of Dhorme Chimerae, Medusae, Destroyers and Sandworms) and, after Chapter 5, Mechabo Unleashed (three Mahadevas in Mysidia and three Malbodooms in western Gronoa, from Chapter 6), reporting to Verun on the airship. Its Weaponsmith entry says Aileen is recruited through Forger of Wills in Dilmagia, available in Chapter 6. Read again October 25, 2026: the roadmap's three steps are Finish the story (about 40 hours), Side Content (10–15 hours; substories first for their stat boosts, then Legendary Arms and Adamantite) and Defeat Ultima Weapon and clean-up (1–5 hours); it calls Dragon's Maw's random encounters some of the toughest in the game and suggests returning at the end of the game when much stronger; it ties the Metal Gigantuar to 'Priceless Experience' and the King Gil Snapper to 'Struck Gold', and suggests Dualcast and high-level magic such as Ultima against the Metal Gigantuar.Reported ·
