Before you start
- The farm, finished meals, padded equipment and level-4 forge from Plains production.
- A bow for scouting and a practiced melee option; the selected route supplies a black-metal sword.
- A Mead ketill and sheltered fermenter from the earlier mead chain.
Separate the altar search from the offering search
Yagluth's altar is in the Plains, surrounded by large stone fingers. A Vegvisir at a Stonehenge-style formation can mark its location, but those stones are uncommon. Mark formations and coastlines as you explore; spotting the altar itself is also a valid way to find it.
Collect five Fuling totems from village or outpost sites, with occasional other finds from berserkers or Plains stone-formation chests. No single village guarantees all five. Interact with a totem before dismantling its pedestal, then bank it by portal. Do not mistake an ordinary Fuling or shaman trophy for the offering.

Finish the wine before setting out
- Reserve ten raw barley and gather ten cloudberries. At the lit Mead ketill, make Barley wine base: Fire resistance.
- Put the base in the sheltered fermenter and wait for completion. The reference cycle is two in-game days and makes six drinks; a base in your inventory is not protection.
- Pack multiple finished drinks for the attempt and leave some with the recovery kit. Drink before summoning and watch the resistance timer during the fight.
- Bring the Medium healing mead from the Mountain preparation chain, keeping its cooldown in mind. Resistance limits fire damage; it does not erase damage or make healing optional.
| Make | Materials per craft | Station |
|---|---|---|
| 1 × Mead ketill | 4 Tin + 6 Copper + 2 Leather scraps | Hammer; within forge range |
| 1 × Fermenter | 30 Fine wood + 5 Bronze + 10 Resin | Hammer; within forge range |
| 1 × Barley wine base: Fire resistance | 10 Barley + 10 Cloudberries | Mead ketill level 1 |
| 6 × Fire resistance barley wine | 1 Barley wine base: Fire resistance | Fermenter |
| 1 × Mead base: Medium healing | 10 Honey + 4 Bloodbag + 10 Raspberries + 1 Dandelion | Mead ketill level 1 |
| 6 × Medium healing mead | 1 Mead base: Medium healing | Fermenter |

Prepare the arena and the recovery route
- Walk around the altar without placing the offerings. Clear nearby hostile groups and identify tar pits, Lox and villages that could obstruct a retreat.
- Remove small obstacles along your planned circuit. Keep usable stone pillars as temporary cover, but leave a second route because boss attacks can destroy them.
- Build the portal and supply shelter outside the space where you plan to fight. Test both directions and mark the route; do not put your only recovery point beside the summon bowl.
- Store spare armor, weapon, finished meals and wine on the home side. Leave inventory space for a grave retrieval and keep any spare totems out of the fighting inventory.

Make the decision before spending the totems
These are an editorial loadout and readiness check, not a guarantee that a particular armor number wins the fight. If the nearby Plains encounters are still overwhelming, return to the equipment and food loop before summoning.
| Need | Concrete ready state |
|---|---|
| Damage | Repaired black-metal sword or another practiced blunt/slash option. Ordinary pierce arrows are a poor main plan; Yagluth resists pierce and is immune to poison. |
| Food | Lox meat pie + Wolf skewer + Bread, with extra servings; Blood pudding can replace Bread. All three are eaten and health has recovered. |
| Survival | Rested status, active fire-resistance wine, healing supplies and stamina reserved for escapes. |
| Return | Tested portal outside the arena and a stocked recovery chest. |
| Make | Materials per craft | Station |
|---|---|---|
| 1 × Black metal sword | 2 Fine wood + 20 Black metal + 5 Linen thread | Forge level 4 |
| 1 × Lox meat pie | 1 Unbaked lox pie | Stone oven; wood fuel |
| 1 × Wolf skewer | 1 Wolf meat + 2 Mushroom + 1 Onion | Cauldron level 3 |
| 1 × Bread | 1 Bread dough | Stone oven; wood fuel |
| 1 × Blood pudding | 2 Thistle + 2 Bloodbag + 4 Barley flour | Cauldron level 4 |

You are ready when…

Saved in this browserWhen something goes wrong
I cannot find a Vegvisir.
Continue prepared Plains exploration and look for the altar itself as well as stone formations. Procedural worlds do not provide a fixed compass direction or a guaranteed runestone in each Plains.
I cleared a village but still need totems.
Inspect other villages or outposts on later trips and bank every totem. A shaman trophy is not a totem; do not build the plan around a guaranteed shaman drop.
The wine is still a base.
Put it in the fermenter and wait for the finished batch. Make the attempt after collection, with spare drinks outside the arena.
