With three eggs staged and frost protection equipped, summon Moder and use the bow between attacks. Move sideways out of airborne ice volleys; on the ground, avoid the breath and frontal bite or claw. Secure her trophy and Dragon tears, then build the Plains workshop through the next guide.
Eat, rest, repair and check the equipped cape or active frost-mead effect before approaching the altar. Frost resistance remains necessary throughout the encounter.
With three Dragon eggs placed, use the altar’s summon interaction. Move away from the arrival point onto the prepared ground.
Keep the boss in view, use aimed shots in openings and leave enough stamina to dodge the next attack. Do not hold a drawn bow while stamina and awareness disappear.
Climb to the Mountain altar and place the Dragon eggs at the prompt, then walk back toward cover by a stone pillar; Moder’s health bar appears as she flies in.
Obsidian arrows are the default ammunition for this route. Moder is immune to frost, so frost arrows waste their main added damage here. Fire arrows are an available alternative, but a weakness label does not remove the need to aim, conserve stamina and keep enough ammunition.
A bow-focused fight is a viable plan; your iron mace remains available for close opportunities and other enemies. Watch bow durability and change to the spare or use the prepared repair route before it breaks. Natural rocks and trees can be destroyed, so move when cover stops working.
Moder combat priorities
Situation
Response
Airborne ice volley
Stop firing and move sideways clear of the targeted ground. Avoid getting trapped by the ice left at impact points. Resume shooting when you have room.
Grounded frost breath
Move laterally away from the front of her head. Maintain separation from the breath path before aiming again.
Grounded bite or claw
Stay clear of the frontal attack. If choosing melee, take short openings from a manageable angle and disengage when she turns.
Awkward landing on steep terrain
Reposition onto better ground instead of forcing melee hits uphill or chasing toward a cliff.
New wolf or drake nearby
Create space and deal with the extra threat before it closes off your escape path.
Use healing with enough space for it to take effect. If food, arrows, durability or frost protection are running out, leave via the marked route and replenish. Do not bring the boss directly to the portal or the reserve chest, and do not summon another Moder after a retreat.
After death, eat and drink the frost mead left at home before returning. Bring the backup kit and keep room for your grave inventory. Move enemies away from the recovery point, retrieve the gear, equip frost protection and retreat onto known ground. Do not begin another fight while still sorting the recovered pack.
If the portal is lost, fall back to the marked foothill and boat route. Rebuild a safe connection before attempting another grave rush. In a group, a surviving player can draw attention away, but the recovering player still needs food and frost protection.
Clear surviving threats, collect the Moder trophy and Dragon tears, and take them home. Leave no boss drop hidden among ice, slopes or ordinary loot.
Hang the trophy on its matching Sacrificial Stone and interact if you want to select Moder’s power. Consult the current in-game tooltip for its effects rather than assuming an old power description.
Reserve two Dragon tears for an Artisan table. The table enables the next processing buildings; it does not itself turn black metal scrap into bars, flax into thread or barley into flour.
Restock the Mountain kit and retain the silver, onion and Swamp supply routes. Follow the Plains entry guide to establish a safe foothold and build the processing chain in the right order.
Switch to obsidian arrows or another appropriate non-frost arrow. Moder is immune to frost; the arrow’s frost component will not help.
My bow broke during the fight.
Switch to the repaired backup if carried, or retreat to the protected portal for forge repairs. Replenish arrows and food before returning; do not summon again.
I have Dragon tears but cannot process Plains materials.
The tears unlock the Artisan table. Follow the next guide for the separate blast furnace, spinning wheel and windmill, each with its own materials and purpose.
