Before you start
- One completed key from the Intricate Key journey. Keep spare moulds and materials at home.
- A Grappling Hook if the current Mörkhalla layout requires upper access, plus a tested non-combat return route and a nearby recovery cache.
- A repaired dungeon kit, high-value food, health and stamina recovery, ranged reach and enough durability for a long descent followed by an overland event.
Reach the chained door before spending the key
- Mark the Mörkhalla structure and establish a small exterior recovery cache before carrying the key inside.
- Reach the upper access. Postmode and redfreshet describe Grappling Hook access; a catapult is reported by Postmode only and is not a required method here.
- Descend to the chained door, verify that it requests the Intricate Key, then use the key. Do not promise that the key survives or is refunded: the inspected sources do not establish consumption behavior.
- Confirm a retreat path immediately after the door opens before beginning the full descent.

Clear downward and read the map after the trigger
- Work down floor by floor, clearing enemies before using corner stairs or dropping into the next space. Keep the path behind you recognizable.
- At the bottom, find the Malicious Ice and destroy its central portion. Current walkthroughs report an on-screen Jotun advance message.
- Leave the dungeon, reach safety and open the world map. Look for the marked Jotun Invasion instead of continuing to search Mörkhalla for the Blood.
- If no marker appears, return to the bottom only after repair and verify that the central ice core was fully destroyed. The sources do not establish a reset timer or a command-free repair for a missing event.

Travel back into the world and recover Malicious Blood
- Plan a route to the flashing invasion marker. The event can pull the Deep North route back across earlier biomes, so restock at home rather than leaving straight from the dungeon while depleted.
- Enter the marked area, clear the invading enemies and work toward its central Malicious Ice.
- Destroy the central ice and collect Malicious Blood. Store it before starting another key cycle.
- Repeat the researched dungeon-to-event loop until you have the three Blood reported for Kall. Prepare another complete key for another locked Mörkhalla; do not infer that the previous key is reusable.

You are ready when…
0 of 3 ready
Saved in this browserWhen something goes wrong
I reached the tower but cannot find the chained door.
Confirm you entered from the upper route, then search downward before spending resources on another structure. Keep the exterior marker so a death does not turn into a second location search.
I broke ice in Mörkhalla but received no Blood.
That ice triggers the invasion; the Blood is reported from the central ice at the separate map event. Leave safely and inspect the world map.
I died during the invasion.
Return from the nearest prepared route with a spare kit, clear enemies away from the tombstone and recover before attacking the central ice. Event persistence after disconnect or world changes is not established here.
Sources & checks
- SteamDB: Valheim 1.0 patch notes (build 25185596)
Deep North, Kall Fimbulbringer, Winding Tunnels, Mörkhalla, environmental hazards, production pieces, new materials, events and updated Fader Relic functionality shipped in 1.0.
Community reference · Checked . Build-indexed record of Iron Gate’s official 1.0 notes. It confirms released names and broad mechanics, but does not establish the walkthrough order or exact recipes by itself.
- PC Gamer: Valheim 1.0 progression guide
Winding Tunnels lead to key moulds, keys open Mörkhalla, three invasion rewards are used at the Strange Bowl, and Kall drops Sacrificial Blood and a Crown Jewel.
Community reference · Checked . Launch-day progression reference from the same publisher as the key guide, so those two pages count as one source family rather than independent corroboration.
- Postmode: completed Deep North walkthrough
Winding Tunnels, Frostcore production, Fader-reward Ember production, Bloodgold, Intricate Key, Mörkhalla, the Jotun invasion, Malicious Blood and Aesir Passage are described as one route.
Community reference · Checked . Independent launch-day walkthrough based on a completed PS5 playthrough. It conflicts with other sources on some display names, so this edition uses Iron Gate’s official names and avoids treating aliases as separate items.
- redfreshet: Mörkhalla guide
Upper access, the chained door, dungeon descent, Malicious Ice, the mapped Jotun invasion and Malicious Blood recovery.
Community reference · Checked . Launch-day specialist walkthrough. It supports a researched route, not undocumented reset, persistence or refund behavior.
- Valheim.tools: Kall Fimbulbringer
Kall has three phases, resists pierce, fire, frost and lightning, ignores spirit, interrupts damage with summoned aspects, takes three Malicious Blood to summon and drops Sacrificial Blood plus a Crown Jewel.
Community reference · Checked . Maintained current-game database. Its total-health presentation conflicts with another game-file database, so this guide uses only the independently corroborated phases, damage profile, summon cost and drops.
