Regent: manage Stars and your Sovereign Blade

Budget two resources and build a repeatable Forge plan.

Early Access · Main 0.107.1 baseline; Beta 0.111.0 changes marked · Updated 2026-09-12

The short answer

Stars carry between turns. Count both the Energy and Star costs before playing a sequence, and preserve defense while preparing your Blade.

Before you start

  • Play a Silent run to unlock Regent.
  • Main 0.107.1 is the baseline; beta-only values are in the patch guide.

Make the Star budget visible

Venerate generates Stars; Gather Light adds defense while generating them; Glow helps with Stars and card access. A card with both costs needs both resources. Saving unused Stars is valid.

Kingy example: start with 3 Stars, generate 2, then spend 4. You have 1 Star left, irrespective of the Energy calculation. Write both totals mentally before choosing the second card. An Energy discount alone does not promise to erase the Star cost.

Create, improve and retrieve the Blade

The first Forge creates a Sovereign Blade and adds its Forge amount. Later Forge improves that existing card across combat piles. It does not keep producing new Blades. The unupgraded Blade costs 2 Energy, has 10 base damage before Forge and Retain; its upgrade lowers the cost to 1.

Bulwark combines Block with Forge. Summon Forth retrieves the Blade as well as forging it. Plan how to play it again after the first strike; extra setup cards are less valuable when the Blade stays buried in discard.
