GTA VI editions & preorders: a decision guide

Standard is listed at US$79.99; Ultimate at US$99.99. These are US prices, before any regional checkout differences.

Both editions contain GTA VI. Ultimate adds its collection of vehicles, weapons, appearance items, shops and activities.

The Vintage Vice City Pack accompanies preorders and purchases before November 20, 2026. Ultimate is not required.

PlayStation’s current offer covers digital Standard or Ultimate purchases before November 20. Claim by March 31, 2027; it is once per account, excludes listed territories and renews as a paid GTA+ subscription unless cancelled. Existing subscribers receive the month after claiming.

For a digital GTA VI preorder through the Xbox/Microsoft Store, Microsoft says money in your Microsoft account is charged right away. If you pay by card or a backup payment method covers some of the cost, Microsoft may charge that payment option up to 10 days before release. Check your Microsoft order history for your order's status and to change how you pay before it is billed. This Microsoft Store policy does not set the billing date for a boxed preorder from another retailer.

For a GTA VI preorder cancellation or refund question, start with the storefront that took your order. If you preordered a physical copy from the Rockstar Store, Rockstar links to Xsolla’s cancellation form; Xsolla says a physical preorder can be canceled only before it ships. For a PlayStation Store or Xbox storefront order, Rockstar directs purchase-support questions to PlayStation Support or Xbox Support. For an order from another retailer, ask that retailer about purchases, refunds, or delivery. Rockstar’s FAQ does not promise a refund or give one deadline that applies to every storefront.

The announced physical box contains a download code. Rockstar Support specifies digital preload from local midnight on November 12, 2026; boxed codes can support preload after they are received and redeemed. Shipping or pickup starts November 12 and does not guarantee arrival that day or early gameplay access.

Boxed GTA VI preorders start becoming available for shipping or retailer pickup on November 12, 2026. The box contains a download code you can redeem when received to preload. November 12 is a start date, not a guaranteed delivery date: shipping time varies by order. Rockstar Store buyers get a tracking link when their order ships; for orders from other retailers, ask that retailer about delivery or pickup.

No. Rockstar says GTA VI is sold separately from The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, a merchandise Collector's Box. The collection includes a double-sided souvenir poster with a Leonida map. That poster does not confirm a printed map or guide inside the regular boxed GTA VI game.

A July r/GTA6 thread asks whether physical copies will include a printed map, and a September 10 thread asks whether GTA VI will receive a printed strategy guide. Those posts show player interest; they do not establish Rockstar’s packaging plans.

Yes. If you already subscribe to GTA+, an eligible digital GTA VI purchase still gives you a free month. Redeem the offer through your platform store; Rockstar says the month is then added to your existing subscription and your next billing date is extended by one month. It is not applied automatically when you buy the game. The usual platform redemption deadline and one-redemption-per-account limit still apply.

Yes. Rockstar says Standard Edition owners can purchase the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately at any time through the PlayStation or Microsoft stores. Boxed Standard owners can upgrade after redeeming their game code; there is no physical Ultimate Edition. The support article does not quote a standalone upgrade price.

The US Xbox storefront lists the GTA VI Ultimate Edition Upgrade at US$20.00 for Xbox Series X|S, marked pre-order and requiring the separately sold base game. This price applies to that US Xbox listing; it does not establish a PlayStation upgrade price or a cross-platform entitlement.

For PlayStation’s qualifying digital preorder offer, visit the GTA+ product page after buying GTA VI and complete the no-cost claim. Check the renewal date shown during that transaction: cancel in account subscription settings before the next payment if you do not want paid renewal. Claim by March 31, 2027; the eligibility and once-per-account conditions still apply.

For an eligible digital Standard or Ultimate Edition purchase of GTA VI made before November 20, 2026, Rockstar says the free GTA+ month can be redeemed immediately or later. On PlayStation, redeem it by March 31, 2027 through the GTA+ product page. On Xbox, redeem it within 180 days of purchase through the Microsoft Store’s Offers & Credits section. The Xbox window is measured from your purchase date, not the PlayStation deadline.

No. PlayStation says the free GTA+ month from a qualifying digital GTA VI preorder is non-transferable and can only be redeemed on the PlayStation account used to preorder. Another user on the same PS5 cannot claim that subscription offer through their own account. This account rule does not determine whether the GTA VI game license, Vintage Vice City Pack, or Ultimate Edition additions can be shared between accounts.

The free GTA+ month from an eligible digital GTA VI purchase must be redeemed separately through the platform store. After that month, GTA+ auto-renews monthly at the regular price unless you cancel. Rockstar says to cancel auto-renewal through the store where you obtained the membership; benefits remain active until the subscription term ends under that store’s rules.

No. Rockstar says the free GTA+ month with a qualifying digital GTA VI purchase is limited to one redemption per platform account. Refunding GTA VI and preordering it again does not grant another free month. This does not change the separate platform-specific redemption deadlines or paid renewal terms.

Sony’s September 3 announcement introduces black and white GTA VI limited-edition DualSense controllers, with launch starting November 19 and preorders scheduled from September 10. The white version is listed for PlayStation Direct and participating retailers; black is Direct-exclusive where that service is available, with select retailers in other regions. These are separate hardware announcements, not evidence that either game edition includes a controller. Current stock and regional checkout terms are not verified here.
