Getting around: fast travel, chocobos and the airship

Quick answer

Early Chapter 1 is on foot: Kingy's demo run had no fast travel through Grandshelt Castle. Save points deep in a dungeon unlock Teleport back to its entrance. Fast travel unlocks in the village of Kol, where you also rent your first chocobo; from then on the Map screen takes you to any place you've visited, except from inside a dungeon. The airship comes at the start of Chapter 5 and reaches airship-only places such as Clive's sanctum and Whirlpool Hollow.

Before you start

  • The on-foot, Teleport, keyboard and options details come from Kingy's demo play tests (October 21–22, 2026). Kol, fast travel and the airship come from creator videos of the demo and full game (Community-reported (video)) and PowerPyx (Community-reported, text), as each section says. Kingy hasn't ridden the airship yet.

Early Chapter 1: on foot, with Teleport in dungeons

In our demo run the world map had no fast travel from Mitra through Grandshelt Castle, so you walk. Inside a dungeon, reaching its second save point unlocks Teleport between the entrance save point and the deepest one, which is handy for walking out to heal and coming straight back.

Fast travel unlocks in Kol

Reveal solution / story details

The Fast Travel tutorial appears in the desert village of Kol in Chapter 1. From then on you can travel to any place you've visited from the Map screen in the Main Menu, but not from inside a dungeon.

The destination list has tabs: in RPG Kingdomkid's Chapter 1 video the first holds towns and landmarks such as Oblivion Palace, the second dungeons with their Recommended Level (the Earth Shrine at 3), and the third the Vision sanctums. Visited sanctums are named after their Vision ('Sanctum of Cloud'), and Cave Masters' caves appear as '<name> Cave' with their level.

Verified (first-hand, our play-test, full game on PC via Steam, Normal difficulty, October 31, 2026). Open the map (M), press 1 for the Destination List, and use Q or E to switch tabs. The tabs list towns, dungeons, and the Sanctums of Zidane and Noctis. The towns tab shows no levels. The dungeons tab shows each one's Recommended Level, so it's a quick check on whether you're ready. Fast Travel refused to work from inside a dungeon. Chocobos

Reveal solution / story details

Kol is where the story has you rent a chocobo: the objective reads 'Rent a chocobo'. Getting one unlocks 'Kweh!', which 77.1% of Steam players had two days after launch. On keyboard, R on the field is labelled 'Chocobo / airship interior'.

Chocobos matter in the Kingdom of Grandshelt's desert: the sign at the Antlion's sandy hollow says to cross by chocobo only, and in two creator videos stepping onto the sand on foot starts the Antlion fight.

The Digital Deluxe Edition's Magitek Armor Key gives your chocobo a magitek armour look; switch it on under Items.

The airship (Chapter 5)

Reveal solution / story details

Lid's airship first flies at the end of Chapter 2 and crash-lands on Olderion's shore. You get your own at the start of Chapter 5, when the objective reads 'Board the airship outside the imperial capital'; that earns the hidden achievement 'Airship Enterprise' (5.8% of Steam players two days after launch). From there a lot of optional content opens up.

Options > Gameplay has two airship settings, Airship Horizontal Camera and Additional Landing Marker. The pre-order Magitek Airship Passkey changes the airship's look.

On board: radar digs, Aileen and more

Reveal solution / story details

The airship's radar finds buried treasure. Give Lid the Magi-tenna from Gaberada to upgrade it, and a second item later for Level 2; the Adamantite north of Olderion and the Ancient Garment and Hammer are radar digs.

After her side quest Aileen waits on the deck to forge Adamantite weapons, PowerPyx says a Moogle of Light on board handles Vision awakening, and Bahamut's fight starts on the airship once you have the other eight Espers.

Latest Updates Vol. 1 (English) ↗English preview with the product information for the Digital Deluxe Edition (Magitek & Grimoire Deluxe Pack), Collector's Edition, pre-order Magitek Airship & Squire Starter Pack and Squire Kickstart Pack, including that their items are claimed from the postbox in front of the inn in the Town of Mitra after a certain point in the game; and the story premise: Fina, a girl who appears from the Earth Crystal and remembers only her name, excels in white magic and archery, can communicate with espers, and joins Rain and Lasswell. Announcement evidence, not gameplay testing; it names no Chapter 1 locations after Mitra, bosses or levels.Official ·
Kingy play test: Final Fantasy Resonance demo, prologue to the first Visions ↗First-hand play of the public Steam demo (title screen 1.0.0.0, Steam build 24032336) on Windows 11, keyboard and mouse, Normal difficulty, October 21, 2026, in two sessions totalling about 2½ hours of play (in-game clock 2:29:47 at the last save). Covers the playable prologue and Chapter 1 from Grandshelt Castle through the Earth Shrine and its boss Belmodar to Mitra, where the first two Visions, Tronn and Leah, are obtained, plus a few field battles afterwards (party Lv.5, both Visions at Mastery Rank 1). Screenshots and silent GIF clips captured from the game window only; story cutscenes were skipped and not recorded. The rest of Chapter 1, Vision awakening materials, player-summoned Espers and the save transfer to the full game were not reached.Reported ·
Kingy play test: Final Fantasy Resonance demo, Mitra through Grandshelt Castle ↗First-hand play of the public Steam demo (app 4474710, title screen 1.0.0.0; Steam build number not recorded) on the same Windows 11 PC as the October 21 test, keyboard, October 22, 2026, in three sessions. Continues the October 21 save (Chapter 1, party Lv.5, in-game clock 2:29:47), which was started on Normal difficulty. Covers Options and the default keyboard map, field healing, the world-map route from Mitra to Grandshelt, the Royal Capital, with its pickups and battle rewards, Rain's and Lasswell's skill lists and Limit Bursts, Mastery Rank costs for Tronn and Leah up to MR 5, and Grandshelt Castle through its boss, Hell's Rider (party Lv.8, then Lv.9), and the story scenes after it. The last manual save, outside the capital, read 2:48:36; play went on after it. Screenshots of the game window, other windows masked. Stopped back in the capital after the castle, before the end of Chapter 1. The full game wasn't installed on the test PC, so the save transfer to it was not tested.Reported ·
Kingy play test: Final Fantasy Resonance full game, Water Shrine, Alluvion and Chapter 4 to the capital (October 31, 2026) ↗First-hand play of the full game on Steam (app 3259780, title screen 1.0.1.0) on the same Windows 11 PC and Steam account as the October 24 to 26 tests, keyboard, Normal difficulty, October 31, 2026, continuing the same save. Covers leaving Waterfall Way, the Town of Amore and its shops, Warden's Cape, the Water Shrine route with its pillars, crystals, crates and three chests, the Viridian Pot encounter, Alluvion (beaten on the first attempt) the scenes after it, and Olderion to the 'Chapter 3 COMPLETE' card and the Steam achievement 'Olderion Blues'. We skipped most of the text of the scenes after Alluvion and rely on the quest-log summary for it. We got stuck in the shrine and read the route summary on NiaMeowDB's Chapter 3 page; it isn't our evidence, and everything here is what we then saw ourselves. Later the same night: the Olderion Federation port and ship, the Zoldaad landing, the route to Mozul Station and its shop, the train's party talks and three soldier fights, the walk to the capital with Red Elemental, Vamplant and Magma Tortoise fights, then Zoldaad's station square, its notice board (The Drofox Gazette Vol. 4), the Imperial Hotel, one esper rumour and the World Map's Destination List (party Lv.26-27). We skipped most train and volcano scene text. We stopped at the goal 'Gather information in Zoldaad' without finding what advances it; while stuck we searched and read KeenGamer's walkthrough summary and NiaMeowDB's Chapter 4 objective list, but neither is our evidence and neither told us the spot.Reported ·

Final Fantasy Resonance Trophy Guide & Roadmap ↗Community-reported (text guide), not a Kingy play test. Its entry for the trophy 'My Name Is Ultima…' (Defeat Ultima Weapon) says reloading a cleared save plays a short airship scene about a new presence in Ardra Crater in the south-east of the map, where Ultima Weapon stands and can be fought on interaction; that it is Level 70 with 3.9 million HP; that it can be beaten at Level 60, with 60–65 suggested as a minimum and the fight best left for last; that its strongest attack, Ultima Beam, is flagged by an exclamation mark on the turn bar and red flames above its HP bar; that it inflicts several status ailments; and that the win rewards an Ultima Reactor accessory along with the trophy. It also describes the magic-based party the author used (Reraise first, Shellga, Dispel against its Bravery, and Sakura's damage-nullifying Limit Break Eternal Veil before each Ultima Beam). It also says the Colosseum opens in Chapter 4 in Grandshelt, The Royal Capital, that crafting a first weapon with Aileen earns 'The Weapon that Suits the User' and crafting for all party members earns 'The Weaponsmith'. Its Legendary Arms entries say the first arm earns 'Ancient Artifact' and all twelve 'Legendary Arms', and place the Chamber of Arms on the mountainous island north-west of Dirnado, the Continent of Wind. On Tablet Shards it says the Enigmatic Princess is at Oblivion Palace, just south-east of Grandport Harbour in the Kingdom of Grandshelt, first visitable in Chapter 1; three shards open the first chest (trophy 'Princess's Reward'); and 60 trigger her second memory (trophy 'Memento'), enough to open everything in the first two treasure rooms. Its roadmap (read again on October 24, 2026) also says: none of the 40 trophies are missable; difficulty doesn't affect them, so Casual is fine; one playthrough is enough, with full free roam of the map, quests and collectibles after the story and no New Game+; there is one autosave and 10 manual save slots; and a platinum takes about 50–60 hours. Other entries: the 8th party member joins automatically during Chapter 5; each of the 8 party members has a substory (regular Sub Quests); the chocobo comes in Chapter 1 at the village of Kol and the airship at the start of Chapter 5; the Colosseum has four leagues of five battles, the Fledgling (leftmost, green), Brawler (second, blue) and Gladiator (third, purple) tables; spending and earning gil count cumulatively, Vaan at MR 9 has Double Gil, and you can save, spend 100,000 gil and reload; the King Gil Snapper (Lv.49, weak to Ice, absorbs other elements, very high physical defence), the Metal Gigantuar (8 HP, very high evasion, runs away) and a Gigantuar (lots of MRP) are random encounters on a small forested island past the optional Dragon's Maw dungeon, on the southern tip of the Kingdom of Pharm, open from the Chapter 5 airship but recommended at Level 55; awakening runs one star at a time with a Magicite Shard, then Magicite, then a Magicite Cryst, from a Moogle of Light in most towns or on the airship, Crysts first appearing in Chapter 5 and Magicite sold at the Colosseum late in the game; max Mastery Rank is MR 9 and is kept per character, while awakening stars apply to every character; 1,000 staggers came naturally by Chapter 4; 400 Resonances may need grinding, for example by repeatedly staggering one leftover enemy and using a healing Resonance such as Leah's or Ayaka's; and Mechabo's upgrades run through the side quests 'Arise, Mechabo!' (two Dynamo Stones from Ipooh outside the Dwarven Forge, Chapter 2), 'Mechabo Evolved' (three each of Dhorme Chimera, Medusa, Destroyer and sandworm) and 'Mechabo Unleashed' (from Chapter 5: three Mahadevas on Mysidia's western island and three Malbodooms in western Gronoa, Chapter 6 on). Rechecked October 24, 2026: it counts no missable trophies and says the game has full free-roam after the story; 'Conscience Renewed' is for clearing all party-member substories; 'Mechabo Mania' (upgrade Mechabo to his ultimate form) runs through Arise, Mechabo! in Chapter 2 (two Dynamo Stones from Ipoohs outside the Dwarven Forge), Mechabo Evolved (three each of Dhorme Chimerae, Medusae, Destroyers and Sandworms) and, after Chapter 5, Mechabo Unleashed (three Mahadevas in Mysidia and three Malbodooms in western Gronoa, from Chapter 6), reporting to Verun on the airship. Its Weaponsmith entry says Aileen is recruited through Forger of Wills in Dilmagia, available in Chapter 6. Read again October 25, 2026: the roadmap's three steps are Finish the story (about 40 hours), Side Content (10–15 hours; substories first for their stat boosts, then Legendary Arms and Adamantite) and Defeat Ultima Weapon and clean-up (1–5 hours); it calls Dragon's Maw's random encounters some of the toughest in the game and suggests returning at the end of the game when much stronger; it ties the Metal Gigantuar to 'Priceless Experience' and the King Gil Snapper to 'Struck Gold', and suggests Dualcast and high-level magic such as Ultima against the Metal Gigantuar.Reported ·
