The short answer
The Aberrant is Dylan’s transforming melee weapon. Pick a Primary Form for your normal attacks and a Secondary Form that covers a different need. The choices below come from previews and may change at launch.
Before you start
- The weapon-selection tutorial
- Preview names may differ in the released build
Three starting forms shown in previews
| Form | Preview role | Try it if… |
|---|---|---|
| Flurry | Quick paired blades at close range | You want to practise short, quick attack sequences. |
| Slash | Scythe with broad swings | You want a starting option for groups. |
| Slice | Axe with focused single-target damage | You prefer concentrating on one threat. |
Give the second form a purpose
| Form | Preview description |
|---|---|
| Crush | Slow, heavy mallet. |
| Drill | Focused sustained damage. |
| Extend | Chain-staff reach. |

A simple comparison method
These are suggested experiments, not tested optimal builds. Other forms become available later in the preview. Exact unlock requirements, damage values and a final complete roster are still awaiting evidence.
- Choose the ordinary attack pattern you can control comfortably.
- Identify one gap: groups, reach, or sustained damage.
- Try a secondary option that addresses that gap, then compare it in a similar encounter.
- Watch whether the longer sequence leaves you exposed. Shorten your routine when you cannot safely finish it.
Can Dylan use guns?
Remedy says Resonant has no ranged weapons. Some supernatural abilities attack at range, and melee forms vary in reach. Extend is not a firearm, and the original Service Weapon’s upgrade paths should not be used for this game.
