The short answer
Remedy confirms that using Assist Mode does not block trophies or achievements. You can change it during gameplay. Start with the setting that addresses your difficulty, then adjust further if needed.
Before you start
- The game running; Assist Mode is available during gameplay
Match a problem to an announced setting
| What is difficult | Setting to consider |
|---|---|
| Too many simultaneous attacks | Reduce Enemy Aggression. |
| Dodge timing | Widen Perfect Dodge Window. |
| Reading projectiles | Reduce Enemy Projectile Speed. |
| Surviving hits | Reduce Incoming Damage. |
| Long fights or slow posture breaks | Adjust Outgoing Damage or Outgoing Falter. |
| Ability resource management | Increase Power Recovery Speed. |
| Melee positioning | Enable Enhanced Melee Magnetizing. |
| Combat prevents story progress | Consider Immortality, One-Hit Kills or One-Hit Falters. |

When can you change it?
The developer says Assist Mode is available to enable or disable during gameplay, rather than being presented before the first session. Presets provide a starting point. Sliders can also increase the challenge. We have not verified the retail menu path or numerical ranges.
Make the change easy to judge
This is Kingy’s suggested setup method. The published accessibility coverage is an announcement analysis, not a full hands-on accessibility assessment. Subtitles, motion comfort and remapping still need a released-build review.
- Choose the barrier you most want to remove. You do not need to make every part of the game easier.
- Change a relevant setting and try a short, familiar encounter.
- Keep the adjustment if it helps, or revisit it as you learn. You can use a preset when several changes would be useful.
