We Were Here Tomorrow co-op: two copies, crossplay, voice

Quick answer

Each player needs their own copy: players on the Steam forum report there is no Friend Pass, and the developer FAQ does not offer one. The game is two-player online co-op only with crossplay between platforms, and the Steam listing says both players need a working microphone and an internet connection.

  • Kingy has not played the game. Every line below comes from the store listings, Total Mayhem Games' own posts, or at least two players' reports, as marked.

Do both players need a copy?

Players report yes. In the 'do we need two copies?' thread a player answers that it requires two separate copies, and in the older Friends Pass suggestion thread several more players say both people have to buy it. Total Mayhem Games had not replied in either thread by October 21, and its FAQ mentions no Friend Pass.

The price is $19.99 / €19.99 / £16.99, with a 10% discount in the first two weeks after launch. On the US PlayStation Store the discount needs PlayStation Plus and ends November 3, 2026 at 01:00 PDT.

Online only: no split screen or local co-op

The Steam listing lists Online Co-op and Cross-Platform Multiplayer and says the game is co-op only. It lists no local, shared or split-screen co-op. On PS5, the store says online play is required, supports up to 2 online players, and needs PlayStation Plus for online play. Players in the Friends Pass thread also say there is no local co-op.

To find a partner, the developer FAQ suggests making a public lobby in game and waiting for someone to join, or asking on the Steam forum or the official Discord.

Crossplay and platforms

The developer FAQ says the game supports crossplay at launch, and that all We Were Here games support crossplay between all platforms. The Steam listing carries the Cross-Platform Multiplayer feature. The game is listed on Steam for PC and on the PlayStation Store for PS5, both released October 20, 2026, and the FAQ says all We Were Here games are on Xbox and PlayStation.

Microphone and voice chat problems

Both players need a working microphone: the Steam listing names one in the requirements and in its co-op note. Close together, you hear each other directly; out of hearing range, the walkie-talkie appears on screen automatically.

Total Mayhem Games' Known Issues page lists these voice problems: audio input settings are not always saved when you leave the settings menu, so check your input device again after changing it; walkie-talkies sometimes disappear, which a checkpoint reload fixes for now; and sound and voices cutting off, which it put down to emergency maintenance on its Vivox voice servers that should be resolved.

Controller support and length

The developer FAQ says all We Were Here games are playable with a controller; the Steam listing shows Partial Controller Support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers. The FAQ puts the game at roughly 10–15 hours depending on the pair, and the September launch-date post says around 15 hours.

Steam Deck and Steam Remote Play questions on the forum had no answer from Total Mayhem Games on October 21, and the Steam listing gives no Steam Deck rating, so both are unknown here.
