The short answer
Community maps can narrow a search area. Check the map’s species and zone markers against your own save before treating them as a hunting route; the reviewed sources do not establish current activity times or guaranteed spawns.
Before you start
- Confirm that you are hunting in New Laurentia and note your game version and default or Experimental branch.
Use the interactive community map
The Shackmaps source linked below has species visibility controls. Kingy checked the following web-map sequence on September 13; this was not a native-game playtest.
- Open Shackmaps and choose Hide All to clear the displayed categories.
- Use the eye control beside the species name to display that species. The animal icon changes completion status; it is not the visibility control.
- Select an animal-group marker to see its surrounding zone markers. In the checked Western Moose group, selecting a blue water marker opened a Drinking Spot panel.
- Compare the indicated area with your in-game map and observations. The checked panel did not display active hours or a native build number.

Six scouting leads from a March player map
MrCundy’s incomplete map was updated March 29. These are reported areas from that save, not fixed spawn coordinates or current-build results.

Turn a map lead into your own observation
Use the current reserve roster to confirm the species first. Hunting Map filters were added in 0.3.0.199567. Later updates changed population-health and trophy behaviour, so older population percentages should not be treated as universal targets.
Our suggested notebook entry is: species, nearby named landmark, zone type, in-game time, observed animals, game build and branch. Record a sighting or a discovered zone separately from a community map pin. An empty visit alone does not establish that a source is wrong or that a zone is inactive.
