The short answer
Search caves in the starting region for Iron deposits. A Crude Pickaxe can mine Iron; better mining tools make repeat trips easier. Smelt ore with fuel in a Furnace.
Before you start
- Bring torches and equipment you can afford to use.
- There is no universal cave coordinate across seeds.
Work from an entrance you can find again
- Search the walls near cave entrances before committing to deeper tunnels.
- Place lighting that makes the return direction clear.
- Mine a manageable load and return before the equipment or route becomes a problem.
- Put ore and fuel into the Furnace, then use Turn On.

Spend the ingots against the next bottleneck
A mining-tool upgrade helps future gathering, but keep the Workbench Tier 2 budget in view. Linen comes from enemy drops, not ore, so an all-mining session cannot finish that gate.
Kingy route log: note the world, cave entrance, equipment used and the materials still needed. Record what you found rather than labelling an untested cave “best.” If the cave repeatedly costs more repairs than its ore is worth, choose a different entrance or improve your equipment.
