June 2026 preview: safehouses, ammo and shortcuts

Where the press demo allowed recovery, ammunition crafting and a shorter return route.

Prerelease · October 1 target · Updated 2026-09-13

The short answer

The June 2026 press demo had safehouses containing a workbench and a return point after death. Collected scrap could become ammunition and grenades. These observations do not establish the final game’s opening route.

Where the demo allowed recovery

4Gamer reports that enemies could not enter safehouses. Inside were a workbench and a device used as the return point after defeat.

What the workbench made

The workbench used gathered scrap to make ammunition and grenades. Neither the report nor this guide supplies ingredient quantities, output counts or a complete recipe inventory.

Keep limited supplies in reserve

The demo offered flares that discouraged ordinary enemies and a limited supply of grenades. These effects were reported in the preview; enemy-specific exceptions and damage values are unverified.

Returning through a shortcut

Reaching another part of the facility opened a door on the opposite side of a safehouse. That observation establishes a connected return route, but not enough landmarks for turn-by-turn directions.

Starting gear and weapon names remain build-specific

Shacknews’s PC demo provided two health recharges. That loadout is not a confirmed starting inventory for the full game. Its “plasma gun” wording also differs from “pulse pistol” in the older Epic report; the final equipment label needs an in-game check.
