The short answer
If lace faces the wrong way, try drawing it in the opposite direction. With placed trim active, look for size and angle options at the upper right. For difficult selection or removal, zoom closer. These techniques come from named Steam players and have not been playtested by Kingy.
Reverse the drag direction
Jay and SarahSyna independently describe changing the direction of placement to reverse which way the trim faces. Try a short section near the hem first, inspect it, and reverse the direction if needed before tracing a longer edge.

Adjust the active trim
SarahSyna points to size and angle controls in the upper-right corner while placed lace is active. Another player, sealskins, reports that removal became possible after zooming very close. The thread does not establish a reliable keyboard shortcut or an automatic seam-following tool.

Rotate accessories on three axes
Seerolz describes an Accessory Rotation Gizmo option in Settings for X, Y and Z rotation. This advice concerns accessories; the source does not establish that it changes lace controls.

If zoom itself does not respond
Players in the Zoom Bug discussion report unresponsive zoom or rotation instead. The thread has no confirmed solution. The close-up selection suggestion above assumes zoom is working; it is not a fix for this input issue.

Placement and the lace requirement are separate
Build 403 fixes some trims that lacked their lace tag. If a lace requirement is not being recognized, compare the installed build with that patch before replacing your design. The note does not say it changes placement controls.
