Your first steps in Aniimo: catch, choose a partner and Twine

Follow the opening story through Nicole’s Emberpup catch, choose Helion or Lunara in the cavern, complete the Twining introduction, then register at Polaris Institute. These milestones introduce catching, combat and your starting progression menu.

1. Complete Nicole’s first catching lesson

An Aniipod is the tool you throw to catch an Aniimo. The opening lesson supplies pods and points you at a sleeping Emberpup. This scripted encounter is a separate lesson from the later wild Emberpup route.

  1. Finish the opening character/gear sequence and Nicole’s conversation (02:17–02:57).
  2. At “An Idyllic Trip,” follow the objective to the sleeping Emberpup. Nicole tells you to take out an Aniipod (03:16).
  3. Use the catching prompt, place the crosshair on Emberpup and press the displayed throw button (03:21). The reviewed keyboard/mouse HUD shows a mouse-button icon for Catch and Tab for Lock On.
  4. Let the catch resolve and finish Nicole’s response. At 03:27 she confirms the first catch. Continue the story marker rather than searching for a second tutorial target.

2. Choose your cavern partner

Continue the main story into the cavern. At the partner-selection screen, read the two descriptions before confirming. Helion is presented as a close-range partner with burst damage in a small area; Lunara is presented as a ranged partner with area damage and recovery. These are the selection screen’s roles, not a tested ranking.

  1. Follow the tracked cavern objective and finish the partner conversation.
  2. Inspect Helion and Lunara at the selection screen (12:18). Pick the play style you prefer.
  3. Continue the selected partner’s dialogue and the encounter that follows. The reviewed keyboard/mouse run chooses Helion (12:28).

3. Finish the Twining introduction

Twining lets you become an Aniimo and use its abilities. The opening fight teaches it as part of “The Mysterious Cavern”; you do not need to find a separate Twining trainer first.

  1. Follow the encounter’s on-screen combat instructions. The keyboard/mouse recording shows the cavern fight at 14:46.
  2. When the bond prompt appears, press the shown input. It is C in the reviewed frame at 16:15.
  3. Continue the fight using the abilities displayed for the current form. At 17:15 the transformed HUD shows Q for Pound, E for Damage Boost and R for Transform.
  4. Finish the story sequence and follow it to Polaris Institute. The recording reaches the Institute conversation by 20:15.

4. Register and inspect your starting progression menu

At Polaris Institute, follow the registration conversation to the front desk. The reviewed PS5 recording shows Oswen directing the player there, Nai-li handling registration, and the Archives activation leading to the Info screen.

  1. Finish Oswen’s conversation and go to the Institute front desk as instructed (Rubhen925, 30:05).
  2. Speak with Nai-li and finish the registration dialogue (32:05).
  3. Activate Polaris Institute Archives when prompted (35:05; X in this PlayStation-style recording).
  4. Read the Info screen (35:15). It displays your Institute status and Aniimo level cap, plus Info, Badges and Talents tabs. Use the cap shown in your own save; the recorded fresh profile displays level 1 and an Aniimo cap of 15.
  5. Continue the active story objective after closing the menu. You now have the basic catching/Twining lesson and a place to check progression restrictions.

If a prompt or unlock is missing

Check the active objective and finish the current dialogue before looking for the next milestone. Twining is introduced in the cavern sequence; the starting Info screen follows Institute registration. A locked option earlier in the story does not by itself show that your account is broken.

Use the label on your current HUD if a key differs. Do not use the mobile wording in the first recording’s title as a touch-control guide. If your story state or menus differ materially, report the objective name, platform and client version with a screenshot so the sequence can be checked.

After this checklist, use the creature catalogue to identify your next catch and the collection page to record it. The wiki’s collection marks are local browser notes; they do not read your game save.
