How to prepare for Forever with friends

Coordinate access, faction, names and testing without assuming transfer rules.

QUICK ANSWER

Agree on launch or beta, check each player’s access, then choose a faction and character shortlist together. Wait for confirmed realm and transfer rules before committing the group to an existing Classic realm or a promised character transfer.

Before you start

  • A list of the friends you intend to play with.
  • Each player’s own confirmation of account access; no account sharing is needed.

Make four decisions together

  1. Choose a shared start: testing during beta or playing at launch. An opt-in does not guarantee everyone gets a beta invitation.
  2. Check race access. A group planning Skyborne needs to account for the pack-linked race and starting questline.
  3. Choose the same faction path where you intend to play together. Skyborne’s announced paths are Windshaper for Horde and High Order for Alliance.
  4. Prepare preferred character names and alternatives before the reservation window.

Confirm the realm rules when they are published

This edition has not verified the full realm list, cross-realm play, character transfer policy, existing Classic character carryover or beta-to-launch progress. Do not treat any of those as settled because a similar rule exists in another WoW version.

Record the final realm and faction in your group’s launch plan once the options are available. Keep a backup plan for a full realm or a name that is already taken.

Keep the plan easy to share

The preparation tool saves a checklist on your current browser. Export its text and share it through your own group’s preferred channel. It contains your checked tasks, not Battle.net credentials or account data.

Check the dates again before the first session. The calendar download is a snapshot and does not silently change when Blizzard revises an announcement.
