The short answer
Choose Hardcore when creating a new world through Customize. Use the main-menu Mod Browser for compatible mods, and keep an unmodified copy of an important world before testing changes.
Before you start
- Kingy recommends an ordinary Exploration world while learning.
- A world with mods can behave differently from these guides.
Choose the consequence of a death
| Setting | Consequence |
|---|---|
| Off | Hardcore disabled. |
| Permadeath | One life per player. |
| Three Strikes | Three lives per player by default. |
| Nine Lives | A shared pool of nine lives by default. |
| Soulbound | One player’s death ends the run for everyone. |

Check compatibility before installing
Three Strikes and Nine Lives allow the initial life count to be adjusted during creation. Eliminated players become spectators.
The Mod Browser lists supported versions; My Library manages installed mods. Kingy does not install mods or buy content for you.

Test one change at a time
Kingy test method: preserve the original world, identify one mod and its supported version, then test that combination before adding another. Record the result and any error. If the problem appears only in the modified copy, report it with the mod version.
When a world is created from a world mod, removing that mod does not remove copies already created. Do not use uninstall as a substitute for checking which world you are opening.
