Delverium: stop the repeated Controller Detected popup

Use Sagestone's Windows settings-file workaround for the repeated controller prompt in Early Access build 25477537 or later.

Steam Early Access · released September 21, 2026 PDT · update v0.1.0.1 checked September 24 · Updated 2026-09-24

The short answer

On Windows, update Delverium to build 25477537 or later, launch and exit once, then open your Steam ID's Settings.xml under AppData\LocalLow\Sagestone Games\Delverium\Users. Change the controllersEnabled value in the controls section from true to false and save. Sagestone describes this as a manual workaround until it adds an in-game option; Kingy has not tested it.

Check the build and keep your settings reversible

This addresses the repeated Controller Detected prompt reported by a player using a Cyborg II thumbstick mapped to WASD. The developer's reply gives Windows instructions for build ID 25477537; it does not establish a macOS or Steam Deck file path. Disabling controller detection is unsuitable if you still need a gamepad in this game.

Close Delverium before editing. Keep a copy of Settings.xml so you can restore the prior controller setting if needed. Do not edit character or world save files.

Turn off controller detection on Windows

  1. Install build 25477537 or later. If Steam has not offered the update, restart Steam and check again.
  2. Launch Delverium, then exit it. Sagestone says this refreshes the settings file.
  3. In Windows Explorer, paste %appdata%\..\LocalLow\Sagestone Games\Delverium into the address bar. Open Users, then your Steam ID folder, then Settings and Settings.xml.
  4. Make a copy of Settings.xml. Open the original in Notepad, find controllersEnabled in the controls section, and change its value from true to false.
  5. Save the file and relaunch the game to check whether the popup has stopped.

If the popup continues

The developer documented the setting but did not claim every device would be fixed. Confirm that you edited the Settings.xml for the Steam ID you use, that the game was closed while saving, and that the value remains false after relaunch. If the entry is missing, relaunch and exit the updated build once more before looking again.

If the problem persists, report your build ID, input device and whether the setting stayed false in the original Steam discussion. The thread's player had not confirmed the workaround worked when Kingy checked it.
