The short answer
Choose between assisted omni controls and directional swordplay in the settings. Learn a reliable block, recognise attacks that need a dodge, and answer with a short attack before returning to defence.
Before you start
- Check the actual bindings on your platform
- Practise on a manageable encounter
- Keep healing available
Choose the amount of directional control
| Option | How it helps | Practice goal |
|---|---|---|
| Omniblock / omniattack | Automatically chooses sword directions | Concentrate on spacing and response timing |
| Directional controls | Lets you select the angle | Read the opponent and match your response |

A simple practice loop
- Start with space to retreat. Watch one attack before trying to land a long combination.
- Practise a block followed by one reply, then return to defence. If that exchange is unreliable, shorten the attack sequence instead of adding more inputs.
- Against the Forgotten Guardian, the reported glowing double strike calls for a dodge. Do not assume every attack is blockable.
- After a failed attempt, change one thing: distance, defensive response or attack length. This is a practice method, not a claim about an optimal damage rotation.

Match your kit to the current phase
Swordmastery supports combat in both phases. Witchcraft is the daytime discipline; vampiric powers belong to the night. Before leaving for an encounter, check that the ability you intend to use is available in the current phase.
Exact parry windows and damage rankings have not been measured for this edition. Use the equipment and skill guide for the supported unlock structure.
