The short answer
Combat progression carries into New Game Plus, but traversal abilities remain tied to the story and do not carry over. Keep that distinction in mind when planning a return to a location.
Before you start
- A completed first run when the game releases
- Exact retail start menu and save behaviour remain unverified
The announced carry-over rules
| System | New Game Plus rule |
|---|---|
| Aberrant upgrades, health and ability-resource improvements | Carry over. |
| Unlocked combat abilities, Talents and Artifacts | Carry over. |
| Traversal abilities | Unlocked again through story progression. |
| Artifact equipment slots | Three in the first run; a fourth becomes available. |

What changes for builds?
Remedy describes additional talent nodes and the ability to equip multiple combat abilities from the same boss. Not every option is obtainable in one run. Enemies and encounters also evolve, so an old approach may need adjustment.

Before starting again
This is a preparation checklist. Exact reset rules for currencies, quest inventory and map completion remain open questions; do not assume they match another Remedy game.
- Check the released build’s New Game Plus notice and what save it creates or overwrites. Those details are not confirmed by the announcement.
- Record the loadout you want to revisit and any unresolved discoveries.
- Plan a new combination around its actual requirements, then allow for story-gated movement access.
- Recheck patch notes if a carry-over rule or ability behaves differently from the announcement.
