World & series guide

S & C Plastics

The Foundation works inside a Wisconsin town where stories influence everyday life. Local customs matter as much as the equipment behind the company front.

A town governed by narrative

The hub introduces Sloth’s Pit as an anomalous community and the home of Site-87, concealed behind S & C Plastics. Narrative patterns shape the town: holidays, recurring incidents, and apparently convenient coincidences can have material consequences. The residents have lives and expectations of their own. A useful first question is what the Foundation must understand about a place before deciding how to contain it. This is the canon’s fictional Wisconsin, not a guide to a real town.

Begin with an ordinary annoyance

Halloween at S & C Plastics starts with Johnathan West arriving at an egg-covered workplace. His emails, colleagues, shopping errands, and irritation establish an office before the story explains the repeated vandalism. Read the dated entries in order and let those small observations accumulate. The tale makes a good first encounter because the local problem gives you something concrete to follow. Its outcome is best left to the original. Once finished, the hub’s seasonal groupings offer further stories without requiring an immediate tour of every character biography.

Use orientation as a later reference

Site-87 Orientation: FAQ offers a staff speaker’s account of work culture, shifting rooms, local reporting, and the site’s departments. Its institutional details belong to that speaker’s stated period; they are not an organization chart for all Foundation stories. Notice how routine questions about food or office space meet the town’s unusual conditions. The source’s citation currently says Anonymous, while the hub credits Ihp; the Atlas preserves both statements in its source notes. Consult the FAQ after your first tale if you prefer to discover the workplace through events before reading its explanation.
